    Hello Space Pilots,

    The past months have been rather interesting ones for the DarkOrbit team. We have been working on the Training Arenas which was quite a big feature in terms of programming. Also, we have spent some more time revising our roadmap – meaning that we have looked at what was planned before and what feedback we have gotten from your side. After some intense discussions with all departments we have come to the conclusion that we needed to make some major revisions.

    Short-Term plans

    Before we go into details, we also want to reassure you that we did not lose sight of all the current issues that you reported and talked about in the forums, the game and our social media channels. Thus, our Game Designers have already looked into the current issues and put some potential solutions up for discussion.

    We have decided to remove the Ammo-capacity limit and make improvements to the Noob-Protection.

    The current other issues KrisKelvin would like to have your feedback on are finding a viable way to deal with the Battleray exploit and the Lord Of War issue. Both will require some fundamental changes to the game and we didn’t want to touch those before discussing the implications with you.     Long-Term plans

    As mentioned above, we have taken a real deep look at all the criticism we have been receiving since the Reloaded campaign started earlier this year.

    While all the “Reloaded” features have been focusing on a much smoother game entry for new players, we neglected developing more features for our veteran players. Now the Training Arenas are close to release and our programmers have time for something new, we’re going to do some more amazing stuff.

    For a start, we’re continuing moving features from the website into the client like the equipment and inventory screens and the shop. Later, even the Skylab and the TechFactory will be moved, saving a lot of switching between the website and the client and putting less stress on our website programmers.

    We’re continuing to work on the major graphical update which will make the game look much, much more beautiful and will open up many more options for our graphic designers to create awesome ingame graphics. Finalizing this will still take a bit of time as we’re working on profiling and performance optimizations.

    Also, we’re going to add new features like “Loyalty”, make the Domination event a part of the permanent gameplay and will see that there are more regular events and competitions so that we have one for each month of the year.

    Especially the “Loyalty” feature will be something long-term players can sink their teeth in: We want players to feel more connected to their company and make loyalty to your home team a more important aspect of the game. Players will be able to earn Loyalty Points for their company by completing certain missions or tasks and thus unlock special unique abilities and advantages (e.g. Shield, HP, Speed or other buffs).
