[SC] Am i supposed to be using shields less and less?

I recently began to decrease shield usage ever since I got moth formation and put all gens on speed and all lasers on drones. This worked out well in pvp chasing since I had both speed and firepower and noobs never shot back at my only fe ship. And then I did gates using moth to kill things off faster and once again I traded off shields for firepower and speed, and it worked perfectly with aegis hip regen. Then in spaceball I noticed speed contributed much more to survival ability than shields did because taking fewer hits because you get away faster ensures survival more than moving like a snail and trying to tank ufe hits with just a few extra shields. I also noticed in LoW gate, that since I wasn't using shields, I was much more effective at killing and surviving whereas my group members with more shields but less speed kept getting hit more and popped more. Are shields really less useful than I initially thought they were?

 

It all depends on the player. Depending on what you are doing, having more or less is helpful. Where hunting noobs, its not needed, getting hunted you sometimes find they can save your hide.

When dealing with npc's, as long as you hit hard enough, you can probably go through the normal npc, rep, repeat. Boss and Uber are a different story.

Fly Safe

 

depends on you , but you have to expect to lose almost every fight against strong or stronger enemies which are not in unadvantage - doing cubes etc. While you doing spaceball they can also infect you and then your speed configs will become really useless, an im those situations is better to use more shields.
