  1. So the current capsule is unfair for a few reasons:
    • People who purchase capsules now are getting a leg up on people who have purchased them previously.
    • People who have purchased capsules before have essentially been ripped off.
    • I wouldn't expect them to have any money left to benefit from this sale.
This sale should have been a limited time "launch celebration" for 3 or 4 days at the start of the event. This way, people are aware of the opportunity before they buy capsules at a full price, and they're not being stabbed in the back by DarkOrbit.

It also means people are pressed against the clock - Knowing that they only have a couple of days to decide whether or not to buy capsules at a lower price, I'd say more people overall would buy capsules. I'm not genius, but that's more profit, right?

Putting this sale at the end of the event is just cruel. It's a shame that it's too late to fix it, because that would involve messing a lot of people around, and that's just not worth it, is it, BigPoint?

  2. there was no reason to buy them so soon anyways the event lasted 2weeks would have been better to buy them be4 it ends

so when u go 2 shops and buy a tv and 2 days later it goes on offer how many people take that tv back 4 a refund cos they want it cheaper?

  3. Your analogy is out of context (although I can explain how it could apply in this situation if you'd like). I'm not arguing that the price change was unfair because of the lost potential to save money, I'm arguing that it's unfair because people who haven't already spent their money on Capsules will get far more, simply because they didn't want to spend their money in the first place.

The whole point of the discount/sale is to get the tight people to spend their money, and it's screwing over people who already did.

  4. Arent u UFE? because the lottery is good only for LF-4s lvl 16 and BO2s lvl 16... so its only for ppl no UFE, but if ur UFE and ur buying capsules is a waste of $$ :p

  5. Really the lottery isn't for UFE players? Think about this now, would you if you were UFE want to delete current config every time you want to outfit a different ship or would the players rather have enough equipment to just outfit 2 ships so he can just jump into the other ship and go? And there is new ship designs and uri up for grabs also, and i think the ships will be like surgeon good luck getting those designs after the lottery is finished.

  6. Well having another hangar equipped is a choice if u want instead equip another hangar again.. but upgrading again for another hangar will cost u more uri again, instead spend that much uri in rsb for fighting:p

  7. Does the OP cry often? I bet he does. Everyday this happens in real life. A product gets release and costs say $500. People want to buy one so they fork out that cash. Two months later that same item goes on sale, now it costs $350. I guess the OP will stop by the store and complain that he wasted $150 when he bought the item when it first came and wants a damn refund. Find something real to [removed] about, not when a damn sale happens and how it may or may not affect people who made a choice.

  8. Not if you win a set of 30 upgraded LF4's form one Hitac event, and then Bo2'S form another :p. Then it won't cost much. :)

  9. No it isn't because they CHOSE to spend their money right away after the event was released knowing that it would be out for 2 weeks. Those that decided to wait can't be at fault, nor can Bigpoint. I mean what advantages to you get out off buying capsules before everyone else? Nothing - especially in a situation like this.

Besides this happens in real life all the time anyway ( as a few people have pointed out). I don't see how it's any different on the game.
So for next time, don't rush off buying the capsules right away. Or if you do, and the same thing happens again, don't be complaining about it, because you and only you is at fault for simply buying right away. :)

  10. well some one is on the same page as me :p

  11. The whole issue is D O expected to get so much money from the SALES of CAPSULES and fell short of that goal and decided to try to get more people to buy them and reduced the prices as a last ditch effort to increase their revenues. This is just like a CLOSEOUT SALE when the end of a season hits. They wanted to sell the capsules created and did not do that so they are trying to entice more sells of their OVERSTOCK and to do so is to put them on sale.

Where were you when the Hangar Prices were reduced and then Hangars were given away when buying ships (whether from Auction or Shop or CASH). The NEW players who bought their first Hangar just before the reduction (50,000 Uridium) paid more than the NEW player will buying them ALL under the New pricing. Same difference here and the Hangars effected a heck of a lot more people than these capsules did.

As the responses were made about the Hangar Prices, it was to be expected and stop CRYING about it.

  12. Every hitac event is 1 time per year, so u will get something upgraded every year only? :S you may quit the game for then :V xDD

  13. So what? 2 years to get UFE by winning Hitac. Hmm how long does it take a free player to reach UFE again...?

  14. half of year, or 1 year but not 2 years, oh well it depends on the person :)

  15. There is potential for other prizes, as well as the instant rewards you get from the Capsules when you convert them. If you win the 1,000,000 Uridium reward for spending only, say, £20, then you're profiting from it. :)

I love how it bothers you so much that you had to post about it. Who's complaining now?

Just so you're aware, I haven't purchased any Capsules. I haven't written this post because I'm losing out, I'm writing it because I don't think what DarkOrbit are doing is very fair on the playerbase.

It's different because this is a competition and allowing some people to have more chances at winning and not giving other players that same chance is cruel. Would it be fair if three people bought-in to a poker game, and then two more come along and get in for 50% just because the dealer felt that way? No, it's not fair at all. Those three people have a lot more at steak than the other two, yet they're on the same playing field.

Of course, people are going to be aware of sales in the future. They know what they can and can't do - With the advanced notice, nobody should be complaining.

As as I said above, I didn't purchase Capsules myself. I see no point in spending my real hard-earned money on something that has very little guaranteed returns. I can acquire the instant-rewards elsewhere. :)

You're forgetting that it could be the opposite: They garnered more sales than expected, so they dropped the prices to see if they could squeeze cash out of people with not as much to spare. Really, we can't know unless someone from the team tells us, but I doubt that'll happen. Regardless of their reasoning behind it, they've still gone back on their players with the discount.

I was there for that. The reasons this is different are:
    1. Hangars aren't entry material for a competition.
    2. A significant amount of time had passed since the release of the hangars had passed.
    3. I believe (although don't quote me on it) that advanced notice was given on the pricing changess.

If you don't like what I have to say, then don't continue to read it.

Anyone else got any questions/comments/insults? More than happy to hear them. :)

  16. why go and buy them then? You wouldnt buy someone something at Christmas then go and take it back during the boxing day sales and complain haha!

  17. So it seems that this thread was created just to get the community FLAMING about something D O has been seen to do on a regular basis to try to generate revenue. As such I am done watching this thread and think that the Moderators should close it.

Honestly surprised people are acting this way they are about this, almost implying its the players fault for buying them before the discount, or for buying them at all.

People do not buy the capsules for the sake of some emp or rsb they got from instantly using them, they buy them to increase their chances in the lottery.

That lottery has not taken place yet, so essentially the main purpose of the capsules has not been fulfilled yet, however at the last moment they have been reduced so people can pay less and still 'play' in the same lottery as those who paid more. I think that's quite sneaky and not great practice personally, I haven't bought any capsules at all but I can certainly understand why people are annoyed.

Not to mention this is the first time this has happened with capsules being sold at a discount rate just before the event ends, so not sure how players are at fault for buying them earlier.

It would be like preordering a game and you get a wallpaper with it, then 2 days before release the cost of the game is cut by 30% but you cannot get it at the discount price because the company says 'ah but you got the wallpaper and used it already'. People didn't buy the game for the wallpaper, but that can be used as the excuse as to why they paid more for their preorder since they had access to the wallpaper earlier.

To put it in more game related terms:

Imagine Havoc were distributed monthly and lets say only 50 Havoc were given out each month. You do zetas throughout the month then at the end of the month you are told how many Havoc you have received.

People who need Havoc are doing zeta over other GG for them for them, not so much the zeta GG rewards - they are just a added bonus. However during the last week of the month the cost of zeta is reduced to 75 parts, so everyone who does them now will get it cheaper than people who had bought uri earlier in the month to do them, yet those cheap gates give the same chance for getting the Havoc as your expensive ones did.

  19. its luck only :/ going for luck in this game sucks :(

  20. This is what I'm trying to get at. There had been no mention of a sale, and people were allowed to just spend their money on Capsules at full price, blind to the fact that people were going to come along at the end of the event and swamp their efforts.

All I'm saying is, DarkOrbit failed to do one of the two logical things here:

    • Mention that there would be a sale before the start of the event, so that players were aware of just exactly what they'd be getting their money if they purchased them outside of the sale.
    • Put the sale at the start of the event so that all players had a chance to purchase the Capsules at a lower price before people were lured into paying fill price.
These do depend on the team having planned the sale from the beginning, and if they hadn't then they shouldn't have bothered with the sale, or they should have done it in a different manner. Example: Chance to receive bonus rewards when converting above a certain amount of Capsules, be it an LF-4, Ship Design, Boosters, or GG parts or something. This way people get more for their money and are inclined to spend.
