[SC] Change the Platform of the Game&Other

Hi! I notice that updates don't come out very fast and lag is prevalent as of right now due to the newest update. Here my suggestion for this fix. Take it off the Browser game to a Downloadable Client. The problem with the Web browser is that you have to work around with Adobe Flash and Java to make what you do when you got alot more freedom in a downloadable client format. Also you don't clearly define each ship's Job in the game. The Agies is a medic that is supposed to Heal people in team fights and itself , not to do damage in a PVP which people mange to do anyways. The cit I feel like is the best defined in the game what he does and can do but could use some changes. Spear Feels also feels well defined. Then you got the Goli which isn't really defined what it should since the other ships are making his job less worth it. It's still the best in-between ship but it just seems less and less being needed to fill that role. Also you guys should really consider Riot's game League of Legends F2P system.

Why? Let me state:

• Game client: it was announced by the team some time ago that they are working on it, and that in the near future we will have downloadable client;
• Ships: The balance is totally fine between ships. Aegis is the Medic, and just because of that reason Aegis can't out damage Goliath. Goliath always wins over Aegis;
• Stop comparing DO with other games: what LoL system you talk about? That is MOBA game, it has other rules and different style. This is space game, and has other rules and different game play. You can achieve anything here as a F2P player, without paying a single dollar;
• The game has always being enjoyable, and like most online games, has changed over the years. Accept it or not, every game changes over years, including your mentioned LoL;
• Assembly system: helps a lot! Especially new/weak players, allows them to keep the uridium and craft something for free;
• Extra sales: every month there are sales going for everything you can buy in the shop. Extreme help for weak/strong players that need to buy something that is exclusive uridium item;

So, stop complaining about DO team not doing anything with the game! They have changed the game a lot, and for good!

PS. Stop using this forum for hating, and try to contribute and make the game even better.

In all honesty I think the game is fine as it is.

I don't even want the downloadable client because the game just seems perfect right now, especially in 3D.

And I'm going to be honest, if you're full UFE like myself, you can probably kill any ship in any ship you want(yes even the citadel). The spearhead, aegis, and citadel are perfectly fine and it really adds diversity in the game.

 

Yes, as I don't worry about the updates. Actually I kind of dread them, but as long as the lag is bearable, I pretty much enjoy the game. Its not hard to play, and there are really only two main challenges: Getting strong enough to destroy all the NPC, and living through the sneak attacks. On my main account, I use the CAS on all my servers and sometimes miss them on my NOOB account. There is nothing like logging on and trying to self heal a bigboy. LOL I can handle all of the normal npc and bosses up to boss sibelon. Ubers is a bear but it is supposed to be.

If you make it a downloadable game, you are just handing it to the hackers to play with until they get their cheat programs in place. Plus you still have to contend with the actual game servers. Who knows, I could be wrong as I play Star Wars which is oh yeah a major download and lots of times updates everytime you log on. These updates can take lots of time to do and I like being able to login, transfer, logoff, and go to work. Well I may not like the go to work part but you know what I mean. I am interested in When they mentioned working on a downloadable client.

There is one major problem with a downloadable client and that is the whole reverse engineering issue, in less than 24 hours there will be cracks and cheats popping up all over the torrent sites and the less honest players will be flying surgeons they have not earned or payed for by just downloading a cracked DLL file to unlock the surgeon; you will be getting noob accounts created and with a simple copy and paste there UFE.

 

If the access portal was a download and the game was still server based, would you not prevent people from being able to add the third party programs to your computer and thus to the game? The download portion being a SECURE (HTTPS) connection to the server could prevent the DDoS attacks being seen by D O. And the servers actually hidden by the download access might slow the influx of bots being seen. Making the entire game a download would be very time consuming as PSK~SUNDANCE has stated every time D O makes any changes to the game (including the FIXES) but just the access portal would only need to be changed for security reasons and should not need to be done as frequently as the game portion does.

 

Me thinks the Assembly feature is causing the lag - it is not instantaneous - DO sends a packet out and then back whether to give you one of the four options regarding cargo drops
