[SC] crab formation = redundant

for those that don't know it yet, drill made crab completely redundant...

oh right i'm supposed to ask a question, so here goes: Why not make crab better at sab? so that it's at least better at sab than the drill

 

But it still does its job, counters Moth pretty well (depending of playing style of course), and if you have a lot of shields left, then change drill as well when they start drilling you

I've lately used it though more on PvE side, it's still effective formation, though, not so effective it used to, but to be honest, only drill is good against drill.

 

drill does more sab damage than crab, so isn't that all that matters?

 

Well shooting pirates without Solace / Aegis and Energy Leech just circling around the map with Drill = Suicide.

 

i think you'll find it really isn't that hard, 2 players can hold back seemingly endless hordes of pirates on condition that no other players interfere by attacking them.

I use cyborg, and he is aegis, both kami and use x2 and x3/sab ammo and you are golden

 

I shoot my pirates alone.

 

Honestly bro Crab should only be used against moth and thats assuming you are at half HP with battle repair bot and energy leech and you really need to get your hp back up.

If you're full HP in crab and you don't have full shields you lost the fight the second you switched formation.

The only other reason I can think to use it if you need to jump port and 5 people are shooting you and you need an extra few seconds to jump, thats a good situation to use crab just to get those extra few seconds on life on your ship to escape.

Other than countering moth in a 1v1 and buying yourself a few extra seconds of time, I don't see any advantage going to crab compared to any other formation.

but the rewards aren't to write home for... so might as well share reward with 1 other dude, with a added effect of enemies totally melting like snow before the sun

 

Crab's Shield Absorption = Shield Withstand against damage (+20%) and not +20% Shield Leech (DO didn't really state things straight)
Drill's Shield Absorption = +20% Laser Damage (SAB's Shield Leech, and other lasers' damages)

Shield Withstand:

B02/FS-3 + Shield Mechanics
80 + 12 = 92%

B02/FS-3 + Crab
80 * 1.2 (+20% from crab) = 96%

B02/FS-3 + Shield Mechanics + Crab
(80 + 12) * 1.2 = 110.4% -> 100% (cap = 100%)

So Drill does not really make Crab's effect redundant, its just that they state the same term but with different meaning.
