When is Darkorbit going to face the facts that Adobe Flash is outdated tech that allows people to cheat. Don't take my word for it.
Firefox executive Mark Schmidt announced the change Monday in a social media post. He said the browser is blocking the platform due to security vulnerabilities.

Mozilla: All Versions of Adobe Flash Now Blocked From Firefox Browser by Default, Company Says.

    Signed, a UFE player who's playing h1z1.

  2. SnakeIdol,

You can download the latest Flash version as Adobe has pushed out a new version after Firefox has pointed out the security vulnerabilities. Please update your flash player from HERE and enjoy the game!

  3. There's something called Updating Flash.

you all are missing the point...chrome no longer supports or updates any adobe flashplayer tech. I don't use firefox. And chromebooks update on their own..you can not force an update of any kind using a chrombook. Keep ignoring the problem. I enjoy H1Z1 much more anyways.

East1 is already dead. Now anyone using a chrome OS, Apple OS, or Mozilla can no longer play DO. My question is when is enough, enough? When every major tech company says your tech is crap and outdated, allowing people to cheat...maybe it is...just saying.

Steve Jobs, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Apple Inc.,[1] published an open letter called "Thoughts on Flash" explaining why Apple would not allow Flash on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. He cited the rapid energy consumption, poor performance on mobile devices, abysmal security, lack of touch support.
He quoted a number of statistics and concluded with "Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content."[2]

Ok ok... yes, flash is dated etc
But we all knew that DO was a flash based game when we signed up didn't we? No point in complaining now lol.
Im on FF and can still use options to run the old Flash, however I'm updating today.
Yes, I too have misgivings about Adobe, there have been a seemingly endless stream of exploits and vulnerabilities.
I have ditched adobe reader, for example, for a freely available alternative.
If I could still play DO and ditch Flash, I would.
I suspect DRM has something to do with the continued use of Flash, though I couldn't be sure..
    We'll get past it

That's fair and you make a great point. I'm not trying to cause conflict. I Just want to play a game, I've spent a lot of money on. I'm positive, I'm not alone and the numbers of players effected is growing. For a game already facing dead maps. You would think a more proactive approach would be considered.

I continued playing this game hearing whispers of a dying outdated game. One that's very expensive to be able to compete at a high lvl. I ignored those cries and built an ufe ship, only to have DarkOrbit force me into the decision, I should have faced years ago. Find a new game.

Beyond shutting down the game for a few years and recoding the entire thing in something else, there is no way to fix Flash issues. They cannot be proactive about this problem, it's not something that they can actually fix without starting over and making a new game. Flash is Flash and DarkOrbit is stuck with it.

As already stated, Flash is terrible now. However in 2006 when this game was created it was still the go-to option. Yes this situation sucks for you but there is literally nothing DarkOrbit can do about it.

Also as a side note, when devs talk about vulnerabilities of Flash they mean data security and such. Not about users being able to cheat on a game.

Please don't leave lol, whack another browser in and fire it up - isn't that easy? You could just use it for DO and use your preferred browser the rest of the time. Surely that makes more sense than giving up your hard earned account, plus all your DO buddies will miss you :)

Mozilla Firefox working okay here (and for some time now) Adobe flash working too (even when the problem was mentioned in forums - adobe supplied text said current and all previous versions had the problem). The latest update is in and it seems to work okay.

I really do thx everyone for your help, DO has finally admitted to the problem.

Unfortunately, they really haven't offered a solution to players using chromeOS. Downloading the newest flashplayer isn't an option. Chromebooks update on their own and you can't force any update. and they no longer support adobe. Meaning no new versions. Changing browsers isn't an option as well. The only option I have is buying a new computer. Having just bought a chromebook that isn't compatible with DO, you would understand my hesitation, having a fear of, what's next....I have no guarantee that this wont happen again to different OS in the near future. I won't be suckered again.

I tired to post the link but someone deleted it. The truth is being hid.

The end is could be nigh for Adobe Flash.
Leaked documents have revealed the program has a serious vulnerability that lets hackers take over anyone's computer.
And despite various patches and attempts at fixes, Google and Mozilla have now both pulled support for the plugin on their respective Chrome and Firefox browsers.

These documents showed the Italian group using at least three unpatched Flash exploits to reportedly hack into people's accounts and take over their computers.

Now, I'm no expert but taking over people accounts and their computers could be a problem.

I think external links are usually not allowed, at least on many forums, that's why its been removed.
I don't think BP are hiding anything tbh, otherwise why send us all an email with a link to support?

re Firefox, I can assure you that Flash is definately supported, after all appropriate updates have been applied.

The above quote is, I think, from a certain well known English tabloid, which is famous for it's alarmist and sensationalist approach to news items, and is not really your first stop for reliable tech news.

Hope you find a workaround for chromebook
