[SC] Forum Future?

Being a frequent forum reader for many years (a very infrequent poster), i have noticed that recently the number of new posts have now turned to a sheer trickle.

I just wondered if people think the forum has had its day and should be removed? Players obviously now post and receive there information elsewhere (discord i imagine), and the forum no longer serves any real purpose anymore. Removing the forum would allow CM etc to concentrate on the games main communication channel discord.

Of course it would be sad to lose the forum, but cant help but thinking its had its day now?

 

Even though I am noticing a slight decrease in interaction and engagement when it comes to the fora, I strongly believe that shutting them down will hurt the game. Sure we have discord to address problems but to make suggestions and respond to them requires more than a chat box. In addition, discord almost always redirects to game FAQs and feedback topics alike.

 

Before thinking if "the forum should go", lots more work should be put into making the forum more visible. I see plenty of people on the DarkOrbit Discord ask about stuff that is answered on the forum, via FAQs etc. (like people don't know existence of forum...)

Somewhat understandable when Discord has a big "join DO Discord" thing on the backpage. Even though all it says is "chat with" countless people ask stuff that only support can help with(or chat bans), which they just eventually get directed to/advised how to contact... Another thing that is barely visible/hidden.


I basically think BP should put more work into making these things more visible, for example:

On backpage where all events info is, put a big direct link to each of their forum FAQs(similar to that "buy now") and anywhere else it talks about an event. For the support/forum thing, an obvious thing would be a moderate sized big text link "Have an issue?" to the left or right of where barely visible help link "?" etc is - or middle left/right of the pages(on backpage) etc. (could basically open same thing "?" does)
