I think this is the right section to post questions

I'm a free player and currently trying to learn the ins and outs of this game while I prepare to really begin playing.

I have a couple questions and looking for pointers.

is there a maximum of lasers, rockets, mines, xeno that players can have on a ship or how much seprom can be used stored in the up grades? if there is I think using galaxy gate energy until I need a quick resupply of ammo may be a waist.

it doesn't seem that seprom can be used to up grade speed generators, is promerium the most powerful resource that can be used?

I've notice that when I up grade the speed generators, it gives a duration of time in minutes but even after I log out the upgrade continues to run down. Is it that a bug or by design.

currently my play is limited to boxing, up grading the sky lab, selling resources and participating in the auction.

I have 4 hanger halls but currently pilot a goliath for boxing and use the storage for resource transfer.
i'm very close to purchasing a spearhead which i'll use for boxing to build up enough uridium to purchase a citadel for the extended storage.

in the mean time I'll be purchasing equipment and making upgrades to out fit my ships. while waiting to purchase the citadel i plan to use the goliath in npc battles and possibly join a clan to group with for hunts.

are there any pointers anyone can give or recommendations that can be suggested.

any particular forum posts that would be useful reading for my given situation.

    thanks ox42

  2. is there a maximum of lasers, rockets, mines, xeno that players can have on a ship or how much seprom can be used stored in the up grades? if there is I think using galaxy gate energy until I need a quick resupply of ammo may be a waist. You can have an unlimited amount of lasers, rockets, mines and xeno on the ship. You are only limited by how much you collect, buy, or resort to opening your wallet when you decide to stop playing free. You can only store as much seprom on your ship as your cargo hold allows.

it doesn't seem that seprom can be used to up grade speed generators, is promerium the most powerful resource that can be used? Promerium is indeed the most powerful resource for speed generators.

I've notice that when I up grade the speed generators, it gives a duration of time in minutes but even after I log out the upgrade continues to run down. Is it that a bug or by design. That is how the speed and the shield generators work. If you put 1008 on each generator, you are good for a week.

are there any pointers anyone can give or recommendations that can be suggested. Don't rush it. On the other hand, your questions lead me to believe you have played something similiar or actually played this for a while. Find a clan that is a good fit for you, and works toward what you want to do.

I play another bigpoint game, nothing like this one. I've been playing this game since late/middle of july this year, recently I've been hitting the forums to learn.

I just picked up my spearhead and am now learning to use it.

One thing I know about these games is that playing for free, I'll never catch up to long time daily players and it's a slow grind to compete with those who spend real money on it.

    any suggestions a good clan?

In order to find a clan, look for regular players who are willing to help you complete quests or ask in chat. The spear head is a great starter ship to have but is low on cargo so use your goliath for resource transfer and selling. I suggest you also try 5-3 maps for palladium in order to open gates and gain ammo. If you do wish to gain an advantage with out forking out loads, then buy premium or a box doubler package. This will help you advance to FE that bit quicker. Don't waste your uri on ammo/booty keys/gates/log disks until your FE. Keep selling cargo via PET if you have it. In order to place bids in the auction house.

Most of all have fun, make friends and keep playing!

    Hello ox42 :)

You made a very good decision trying to learn as much as you can before playing or in early stages. It seems like obvious thing to do yet only few people do this :/

You can upgrade lasers and rockets with seprom and its not time limmited, only by number of shots so do it ifyou want have 60% dmg boost . And there is no limit to how many shots can be upgraded (i currently have above 2kk laser shots )

Reconsider buying citadel later - goliath has enough cargo space to send resources couple times a day, depending on you playing with premium account. You'll be better buying shields and lasers and speed generators ( first in line) . Also iris drones - you can buy firs few with uri and the rest with auction. Whats use for empty ship if you kill npc and gain uri slowly?

Buy goliath designs for extra dmg or shields - they should be cheap on auction.

    Thats for now :)

    spearhead abilities?

Ultimate Cloaking. This skill cloaks you, removes you from the minimap and prevents you from being targeted by other players.
-how long will this effect last, how long before you can use it again.
I noticed that even after the cool down time I could not re-cloak.

    JAMX
This ability emits an interference field which paralyzes enemy ships' functions. All effects which they are currently using will be compromised.
-will the jamx disable the cloaking effect of a cloaked ship.
there was a cloaked enemy ship on map 3.2, I attempted to use the jamx on it but failed to disable the cloak, did I miss or is the jamx ineffective on the cloaking ability? does the jamx disable CPU's? will it counter the abilities of the citadel ie. Draw Fire, Protection or Fortify?

    Target Marker
This ability marks targets for your group and increases the damage caused by all outfit members.
-I haven't experimented with this ability yet,

    Recon
This skill doubles your recon range on the mini map.
-I used this ability while hunting a cloaked enemy ship on map 3.2 but didn't notice any changes on my mini map.

Ultimate Cloaking : you should be able to re-cloak after the cool down time. however the effect only lasts a limited time (30 secs).
If you fire your lasers or rockets while your ultimate cloaking skill is active then you will un-cloak. However you may use mines during this time.

Jamx: works similar to the EMP. It will have a 50% chance of uncloaking a cloaked ship (including you) as well as neutralise and skills being used within its field of effect. Such as the venom's singularity ability.

Target Marker: gives you a 5% damage increase and any outfit members 10%. ( this may be incorrect as it has been changed a few times) This also marks the target so all outfit members can see it on there mini map regardless of how faraway for the target they are. As long as they are on the same map as you.

Recon: you should see a yellow circle appear on the mini map showing any enemy ships/NPC's cloaked or uncloaked with in its range. This is very useful if you are boxing in the 4-x maps and on the lookout for enemy ships.

Excuse me but, you did not mention how many Lf3s or Bo2 you have; if you do not have enough to fill your goli and iris s, then you might look at getting and vengi and a leo there are both great little ships and the cost is low. You also can buy hangers now for very little.

I used a vengi for a long time and loved it shield and speed would outrun most.

    good luck, jack

What server do you play in and what co?

can you switch equipment from one ship to another, specifically generator's.
when I unequipped speed generators from my goliath and place them back in inventory then switched hanger halls to my spearhead. they were not available there.
once certain equipment is used on one ship is it no longer available to use on another, even after it's been uninstalled?

    clan vs. free agent?

    I've been looking into clans.

Using chat sux, there are so many trolls it's not even worth using global. when I use VRU chat I don't get replies.
I don't mind being called a noob that's how we all start, it just shows me what an a-hole you are and allows me to check another prospective clan off my list.
If you're an elitist self important f#^% I don't want to associate with you or your clan.
with that kind of behavior, I'd guess your clan isn't very well liked and has many enemies. you probably spend a lot of real money to play as you get popped pretty often.

As a free player I'm looked down on by some players and clans as I don't crack open my wallet to spend real money, so it takes longer to acquire ships and equipment. Some items are only available for real money purchases and I'm good with that as big point is in business to making money.

As a new player I don't need you, you need me, especially as over time older players leave the game for various reasons.
You need new active, daily players to fill the ranks of your clans.
my advise is don't insult noobs, take the time cultivate and help them, once you get to know them what kind of player they are you can invite them to join your clan.
They'll be more receptive to your invite.

It's not easy to find a decent clan, I was looking for an English speaking clan that was my one main issue. Finding a clan I could communicate with well. That and one who is helpful, answers questions willing to teach it's new members.

The upside of belonging to a (good) clan is the availability of the more experience knowledgeable players to answer questions and offer advice, as well as readily available players to group with for hunting and protection.

    Free agent.

As a free player I think operating as a free agent at this point is the way to go.
I don't have the experience of other clan members readily available to draw from or group with but I'm not opening myself to clan feud's either, which reduces the number of hostile players looking to pop me.

As a free player I'm already familiar with the slow grind.
I spend most of my time boxing to build up ammo and funds (credits/urdium. ) I flip through the forums looking for topics of interest to expand my game knowledge and post questions about things I need help with.

Face it forums are a better place to ask questions than chat as trolls rarely bother to participate.

I don't see a friends list available in this game as there are in others but that doesn't mean we can't make friends to cooperate with and accomplish common interests.

If you're an active player or semi active I would like to hear from you. Hit me up, send me a message I'll look for you when I'm on.
If you just want to hit me up to pass on tips or advice. That works too .
