[SC] How many Speed/Shield generators should you use?

Hi, I'm sort of a new player and I'm a bit curious as to how many speed generators I should have on my ship. I got a Vengeance from an auction, and right now I have all 10 slots split evenly across both Speed and Shields. For Speed, I have three 7900 and two 6900 generators. And for shields, I own two B02 and three B01 generators. I'm tempted to get more 7900 generators from auctions, but I don't know how many I'll be needing in the long run. However I do own a Goliath, which was also obtained through auctions. But I don't intend on using it for a while as I value the extra speed on my Vengeance as a sub-elite player who's vulnerable to getting popped. Although getting killed isn't a huge deal for now, thanks to the 2 weeks of premium they hand out to newbies.

At any rate, according to the wiki I meet every requirement for having "sub-elite" status, minus the drones. I'm going to start buying some Flax drones, would you recommend putting some shield generators on them or only lasers? I've had a few close encounters recently, so I'm not sure if I NEED the extra shields. But having more firepower is nice so I can finish my quests and get out sooner. Please tell me what you think, I need some insight on how I should allocate my gear. I'm currently following some very helpful guides I found on the forums, but I don't really know if/when they cover this subject. It's safe to assume that your choice in generators is based on preference/needs but I haven't played long enough to have the gamesense to make these decisions.

 

Running a vengeance in the end is a hit and run ship. That said, you need a battle config, and a get me out of here config. You should fill up the ship with BO2 on one config with lasers on the drones. One the run config, fill up the ship with 7900 and drones with BO2. Basically you want the best shields and speed gens you can get, so you can survive and get things done.
