[SC] Is Chevron good?

So I've been playing this game since 2010 and took a break until they came out with 3D and with 3D came the new drone formations... When you start a PvP fight usually you will be in Heart or Ring. If you start in heart usually people go into moth to do as much damage as possible to your opponents hull until you switch configs. When you start in ring some will go to pincer then drill when their sheilds are low enough to use without losing extra sheilds. Sometimes people will go from ring into Diamond if their hp is lower which is what I usually do unless they continue to damage my hull then I switch to crab, but what confuses me is when they go into Chevron... in my opinion I find chevron to be completely useless unless you are fighting a spectrum obviously, but even then moth is more appropriate to me because most players I see use spec when their hp is already below half. The reason I find chevron useless is because the max rocket damage (PLT-3030) without demon drones and without chevron is around 14k (with skill tree). With chevron the damage is around 20k (also with skill tree). The difference is very minimal and in my opinion going to drill instead hitting 20% harder benefits me a lot more. for instance lets say you are hitting 70k x4 on your battle and you switch to drill you would be hitting 84k x4. A lot better than an extra 6k rocket damage in my opinion. Let me know what you think

 

Yup,that's why chevron is only worth it when you are a flax noob(because your laser dmg at that point is extremely low);they are going to release a new type of rocket launcher in order to increase rocket dmg btw.

 

Short answer: no, it isn't.

Drill is much better, even as a newbe the advantages of Chevron compared to Drill isn't that good, except you want to trying some cheesy Chevron-Leonov-with-premium stuff.

 

Chevron only good against spectrums.

 

Although Moth is better against Spectrum.

 

It's one of those formations like pincer and crab that are only used in very specific cases (against the spectrum's ability as has been mentioned); I personally have it but rarely use it so unless you have all the other more essential formations (heart,drill,ring,diamond,moth) I wouldn't buy it

 

remember spectreum makes you hit like a princess with rsb and whites, so if you use chevron while someone has spectrum ability the rockets will go straight to the hull and shields and do more dmg than the lasers thats why people use chevron
