  1. Hello, it was announced yesterday that Bigpoint will be officially shutting down BSGO by the end of this January. They've shutdown other games in the past such as Xblaster, AoG, Chaos Cars and a whole lot of others. My point is, people spent money on these games... and not even about the money people spend thousands of hours working hard to earn what they got in those games aswell especially a game as big as BSGO. It makes me wonder how long Darkorbit really has because even though they're trying to get players from BSGO to transfer to DO with the voucher and the past server merges, it shows that BP can shutdown DO at anytime if they want to regardless of the time and money players spent on this game. If you check the forums for Battlestar Galactica, you can see there's a loyal fan base that really doesn't want the game to shutdown and some people refuse to move onto Darkorbit with this closure. You can check for yourself even the moderators and please listen to me when I say this, the moderators and community team members of BSGO even feel unhappy and expressed their own opinions with what's happening with their game.
One of the biggest reasons the game is shutting down is it didn't receive an update for 2 years and I know this game gets updates it just got one of the biggest updates in years but players are still unhappy and i'm afraid of these BP updates. Whenever they put a new thing they destroy several other things in the game. Cyborg, for example, destroyed the Venom (Singularity 400 to 180) that was already a consolidated ship and where many people spent to have. BP has to stop downgrade things after the players buy. This is very bad. Not to mention people stopped playing after the removal of jackpot arena. They really need to pay attention to their players more and stop with the money grab.
I don't know how to express what I feel but I don't feel at ease playing this anymore thinking it can get shutdown in the years to come..

  2. Welcome to the real world and how it works, I was told years ago that the game could just go away if things don't work out so why play so hard. Other games have done the same thing cause things don't last forever if DO ever ends then i guess we will all play a different game. Enjoy while you can

  3. Nothing can last forever, not without endless repair, fabrication, and updates, which DarkOrbit Devs (in our point of view) are struggling to maintain. Since last year, they have shifted focus onto evening the playing field, bringing more advantages to the non-paying consumers. Time will tell if the changes they have brought so far, and upcoming ones, will succeed.

The DarkOrbit RELOADED campaign was initially successful, with thousands of new players suddenly attracted and joined the game, but, it was poorly timed. These revamps and changed should have taken place before that campaign. Hopefully the upcoming changes will help the game out, and they will initiate another RELOADED campaign.

  4. HI All,

I think the writing is on the wall, and Big Point has seen it. Look at the posts in the Forum. There are so many that are negative and full of problems. DO disregarded these problems, and fix very few. A long time ago, I was out of the game and couldn't log on. It took DO two weeks to get me back into the game. That was why I started a second ship. So I could keep playing. Then I started a third ship so I could play night games in the day time because I'm a morning player.

I have asked several times for events to be played in the morning hours. I know more people play at night after work, but you see I'm retired. I play when my wife is asleep. When she is up, I join her. For I'm a early bird getting up between 5-6 am. Sometime earlier but hardly later.

Because of the games problems and MCC, I sort of moved on a little. I have found another game and this game is kind of fun. People really help each other. Oh I'm here everyday and collect my daily bonus on my three ships. I read some of the post on the forum. I just don't fly much anymore. The fun has dim some. Now that the sectors are full of people, it is harder to do the things I like. Plus there seem to be more people out there looking for pilots to kill. One time I was leaving my base on x-8, and I was followed by a fellow company person. as soon as I got out of the base he attacked me. I flew back in healed up and transfigure my ship to PVP and ammo/rockets. I locked on to him and flew back out of the base. He disappear from sector. What has this game come to?

I don't want this game to die, but I don't like the direction it is going either. DO is letting a few run the show. Listen to the people that love the game. Not just the wallet warriors.

DO has created their own problems. They have allowed players to get away with cheating and claim they are a fair play game.Even when told about(with proof)they do nothing. They have allowed the MCC's to run the game for far too long. The participation in most events are usually only by the members of these MCC's as they do not allow others to participate. How many of us have been driven away from participating in these events due to being shot off or just popped right away. These are events that make players not in these clans nothing but targets and fodder for them to get kills.I for one would like to participate, but found it is near impossible to do so.
Over the past 2 years DO lost a very huge amount of players due to their unwillingness to do anything about the problems brought forth to them.At first they could care less, but after a period of time they must have realized that their losses were cutting into their pocketbook and decided to merge servers as a fix. This will only be a temporary fix though. Many new player will not continue to play due to 3 things 1) the other players(mainly MCC's)popping them constantly(sure it is part of the game, but it becomes ridiculous after new players are constantly popped). 2)players inability to be able to participate in events which are part of the game(everyone wants to participate).3)the overall ability to build their ships without spending a great deal of money. At one point in the games history you could build a ship and not spend a dime, but DO has found it necessary to add more and more items(ships, weapons and ammo along with new parts for ships, drones and pets)that do nothing but cost money and big money. At one time I could build a ship that could easily participate for under $100,but now a player will essentially need to spend into the thousands of dollars.
DO is on its way out and will most likely only have a few years remaining before they are a even more dead game that has lost great numbers of players due to the greed and unwillingness to fix the main problems with the game. The game might be a free to play game to play, but most players can tell you it is not.

  6. Hi All,

To this point I was looking at two of the most important post in my mind. "Bot and Cheets, and MCC" B&C has around 85k views and MCC over 43k views. There must be a lot of people who think these post must have some merit. DO doesn't care it seems. There are a lot of good ideas in there and DO had blind eyes to read them.

  7. @KilerStreak ...Nothing was poorly timed? Besides, just because other games have closed it doesn't mean this one will... What upcoming changes are you talking about?

  8. There are still more balancing developments taking place, such as the "Emerging Light" balance patches. And by poorly timed, I mean that the game was in a state where it was incredibly hostile towards newcomers (such as getting destroyed very quickly and easily, and really unbalanced mechanics), which then pushed those very newcomers away. Things are moving improving now compared to the start of the RELOADED campaign.

You mean like a new player being killed by the same guy 16 times in 22 minutes?
This hasn't changed - More experienced players still prey on new players - A quick look at the hunters in X-2 X-3 maps preying on the guys in their shiny new Venoms who came from BSGO clearly shows DO is not new player friendly.

New player protection, put in place when the game was VERY different, needs to be revised if DO hope to get more new players to stay longer than the 3 or 4 hours new player protection lasts.
