do seriously you ever wonderd why the game is inactive, its because you keep adding expensive rubbish no one can afford, oh yeah, except the uri bashing wallet hoarders, pet designs for 200k uri, rip well done keep pushing player out and making new ones quit before they even start, games an absolute joke, everything in this spring event has been directed to the uri players, what about the credit players. oh yeah there not important I forgot, well done games gonna die soon, and just before it does you wanna sack the soggy apple that keeps pushing out all these uri items and pricing them so high.
and yes I know some forum goody too shoes is gonna bash my thread, probally another uri bashing wallet hoarder,

200k uridium, that's close to £50, for something that has no difference to the way you play, are people absolutely daft or summit, buying this rubbish is just encouraging do to release more worthless items that cost a fortune.
the original pet don't even cost that. and people think its great cos they think it looks good, there not even nice designs.

 

yeh ime getting fed up too dont do mhh anymore but i put my money into doubler rebate and prem thats real money. am i going to pay for skins hell no wot noob would do that .and the quest are a joke also all that work and get popped come on ufe rule just away of ranking up regards unhappy gb1player september 2009

The new drones don't look that great, no make that good...make that - it is just a drone. The original iris looks like a flying dagger regardless dripping in blood in conjunction with Havoc design.

 

As stated the things are just cosmetic if you don't like them don't buy them, yes it is a waste of manpower if they do not sell but it is their manpower. I do however agree the EVENT is a FAILURE and have been for quite a while. IF D O wants to keep doing these events then they are going to lose most of their customer base and then only have their PAYING customers left and with the way they are whining about having to join MCC's so they can kill same company players to have fun, they won't be here much longer either.

But then maybe this new association with the Chinese may assist them in getting this ship back on course before it runs aground and dies there.

 

seems like someone never has listened latest develper news from this - the ide behind these is to transfer slowly the p2w element more towards only cosmetic stuff. And thats very good idea

 

did you read what you just typed, p2w, if there there moving slowly from p2w, with cost like that with no benifit what so ever, free players are not gonna exsist and in time neither will the paying players, PERIOD, because no1 will be able to afford this game, and why the hell would someone pay this amount regardless if there trying to move slowly from p2w, no1 is gonna pay hundreds of pounds for no benfit unless they are stupid. its like going into a stationary store and paying a £50 for 1 page of tracing paper, IT MAKES NO SENSE.
I wish all you gamers would think for once in your lifes, that your not benefiting anything by paying these prices for something that has no effect on anything.
people should really be working on how to make this game better, regardless of what you say this game is getting worse and worse.
yes I know all the top players will always pay, and I would happily pay too, but I wouldn't pay for anything that has no benefit, I don't see the logic in it., but all those who keep lapping up the shirads of the designers pumping out these silly design for silly prices.

do even did it with the uridium purchases, made it sound like you were getting more for you money by adding percentages on the banking page, when in reality you got nothing.
ive played this game for nearly 8 years, don't get me wrong I love this game but its being killed off by people who support these daft purchases. I play on 7 different servers and every server all the top players have slowly dwindled away eversince this money propaganda began with darkorbit, and its a dam shame.

It is very common for games to sell cosmetic only items and make a huge amount of money from it. What DO is doing now is actually very much being late to the trend of selling cosmetic items which has been established in the gaming industry for years now. People do buy them and that's why most games nowadays keep on selling them.

Not sure why you seem so offended by the concept of cosmetic items either, you obviously don't like them but you do not lose out on anything from not buying them. You are no worse off than you were before they came out.

If people want to personalize their account with cosmetics then just let them, it doesn't hurt you in anyway, all it does is allow DO to gain revenue from a different area instead of always having to add in items which increase the power. If they did add power with every item then people would be complaining that the game is just getting more and more expensive.

 

That's right, but (I take the example of LoL): each little cosmetic "pack" (ONE skin for one character, in D O it means a ship design or 10 drone designs or 1 PET design) costs normally 5€ (=45K Uri in MHH, you will never get with this little amount of Uri a "pack").
Sometimes if it's an very nice skin it costs 20€ (=240K Uri in MHH). The only "epic" cosmetic D O items which I saw are the Goliath design (which needs 0€, because you can bid it in auction) and the Halloween drone designs with trail, their price are fair. The rest of the designs DON'T deserve it to be called epic, although they have the same price level.

 

I agree that the pricing of them should be up for debate but my reply was in response to the idea that cosmetic items in the game should come with bonuses or else 'they're not worth it' and players are 'idiots for buying them'.

It is better to have a 15€ cosmetic that does nothing but most people don't think its worth it for the looks, than a 15€ cosmetic that gives a exclusive bonus that can only be obtained if the user pays for it. Imagine if the Enforcer Goliath was made only available for payment when it came out, that's the sort of thing some people are calling for with these pet designs and its not a good idea.

E.g. if Enforcer has EPIC flame effects in 3D, I think many persons would buy it even for 40€.

Many players, which are still here, expect bonuses for new upcoming items (e.g. Surgeon, LF4, Pusat) for a long time. In my eyes it's really to late to implant only cosmetic items. Perhaps it's the duty of the devs now to create only "cosmetic" items, ironically with little bonus stats. Little bonus stats can give them a win-win-situation, the P2W-players think: "Ah ok, nice designs AND good stats, I will buy it". The F2players: "Pff, I needn't this little stats, with your own skills you can win against this P2winners."

 

IMO that's a very slippery slope to go down.

If DO added a 5% bonus to the pet designs and made them payment exclusive, then they added 5% more damage to some drone designs that were payment exclusive, then they want to make a gold spectrum and add 5% more damage to it so that its "worth" it.
After all those designs come out then well whats next? Can't do 5% again because the players will complain "I already have 5% from this designs, I'm not buying another 5% design - what a waste!" ... okay so now DO has to give something better than 5%. It goes on and on and all thats been achieved is they have made the game even more unbalanced between people who buy a lot and those who don't..

Making bonuses exclusive to payment only is a bad idea in all aspects of this game and any game.

DarkOrbit is expensive enough. There is absolutely no reason we should encourage DO to put make any bonus at all payment exclusive. Their goal with cosmetic items is to stop paying players becoming more powerful than they already are by not feeling pressured to make better items to get revenue. We shouldn't be discouraging that goal.

 

the point is why pay for something you already have, the pet costs 50k uri, the skin cost 200k uri, equivelant to £50, for for what a change in shape and colour makes no sense to me. its all about the general directuion and balance of the game which some players just don't get.

 

I'll give you an example, my own ship.

I am UFE and over the course of two months of doing gates on discount days / solo cubes I made 4M uridium. Making uridium as an UFE is actually incredibly easy nowadays.

Now if DO brought out all 6 new pet designs for uridium I could just buy them with uridium and have effectively spent no extra money because I gained that uridium through playing.
This is not all that uncommon either. Majority of UFE I know don't actually buy uridium anymore or when the do it is on rare occasions like helix hour, they just make it from cubes or galaxy gates.

That is why most of the cosmetics are payment only, it is a way for DO to continue to make money from people that would have otherwise bought uridium but no longer need to. When they put these cosmetic items out, I don't think they intend for people who aren't already UFE to be buying them - the DO team know that those players would most likely rather spend their money on uri than a pet design.

As time goes on more and more people are getting UFE and just stacking up on uridium to buy whatever ammo / build whatever gates they like. That means that the likelyhood of these players buying uridium decreases and so DO must find another way to get money in order to carry on making the same amount of profits.

If cosmetic only items meet that requirement then great, they managed to get a way to make money without further increasing the gap between paying and free players.

 

my opinion is not of the fe or ufe players theyre not the ones bothering me or there progress, they've earned and payed there way that not bothering me, its just if nothing makes any difference to anything why price it so high, it makes no sense, to weither players are paying or not.

 

Some people would complain if they were hung with a NEW rope. It all comes down to if you like them buy them if not then keep the money in your pocket. No one says you have to buy these and since they give NO advantages you don't lose anything by not buying them.

I do like that it does not effect the balance of the game and yet gives some the ability to make their stuff look different than others.
