[SC] Server merge preview? Continued...

The test server six in the tab at the top is the only difference...Therefore the update is hardly an exciting merge demonstration.

 

That should be the only difference anyways, lol. I'd be mad if I lost something during the merge.

 

I'm sorry but this "achievement" is hardly anything.

I'm sure Darkorbit was 100% capable of moving INDIVIDUAL ships server to server with little problem for the entire time this game has been online, but try it with hundreds or thousands of ships and then it might be something to brag about.

I also think that was just a show and tell project to get people to stay hyped about the server merge. If you look at refraction zone, you can see 40 to 50 people from different servers on one map, so my thing is if you can do it in the game page, then certainly you can do it on the back page.

Its obvious that this is just a huge ruse to get people hyped and nothing to it, honestly its almost like they are delaying it intentionally because they have the ability to do it but no guts.

It has not worked for a very long time for me (and I suspect the entire GA2 server), then again it has not worked for any server I am on; for quite a while. Really hope the merge does not end up like the refractions project....

 

Not sure what is their database engine and how it works (I think it's not even hard to guess, unless it's their own), how they've coded their stuff but surely know that they can do the same for hundreds or thousands of ships server by server (just like they are doing) if they can do it for one ship. Equipment is kinda easy but other server data (which they most likely will leave out) such as the event scores and stuff aren't going to stay, which is why most likely they will redo the ranking system anyways.

Though, I can't guarantee anything and the main goal anyways was to get the accounts transferred securely. Only problems that might occur is the game accounts under same account and they get merged together, but I don't see it as an issue as long as they know a way how to separate them. And what about hype, I think this was more likely made, because people is constantly asking and crying about info and now they got some info.

The actual Refraction Zone works, but the window and the game queue to get in there doesn't.

 

It is not a single account.

Every active gb2/ge5 account from last week was merged into one server on test6, I regret the gif could not do a demonstration for all the accounts.

The preview is just a demonstrating the fact that an accounts equipment remains the exact same - this is the case for thousands of accounts which have been done over many merges into test servers.



I understand why you might believe it is a 'ruse', since the date has been pushed back from September 2017 as our original to next month but if we wanted to actually put out intentionally fake information we would have done it when we had originally announced the intention to do server merges, not 6 months later.

However the merge script is in its absolute final stage of testing and there will be an upcoming public beta for people to observe the merge before it begins for live servers.
We'll have more information regarding this in the week

How Dark Orbit managed to evolve- in real time- over the years is a mystery. However, the information the community has recieved hasn;t been straight forward. It's either last minute or never. A perfect example is years back when they were sayin a merge will never, never ever happen. Then...'Hey guys, we merging the server'. 3 years later..
..It's really happening!

I am pretty sure "they" were a totally different group of people three years ago.

hmm, active.... So will only active accounts get merged? And, if so, what qualifies as active? To begin, I will assume any account that has been accessed in the past month, so I guess I am really wondering what will happen to the inactive accounts....

 

I guess inactive accounts might get terminated as bp has rights to terminate account that has not been used for long time

Bigpoint has the right to terminate the contractual agreement in particular for, but not limited to, the following reasons:

• If the User has not used their Account for a period of four weeks despite having received a reminder from Bigpoint.
  

 

Global Asia is merged other server?

 

I readed somewhere that inactive accounts will be stored in some data base thing and when going active will have to send ticket to support.

 

I have 7 accounts with this login but only 2 that are actively played so the 5 will be deleted as they don't have any play time to speak of, most were miss clicks when trying to switch server, but some were to see what was happening on an earlier server time.

 

My other account has 7 servers I played on but have only played one in the past 6 months or so. Not even getting on the others for transfers and goodies.

 

6 months or so, I would be surprised if you could even log into the main/last server you played without some help from Support. They used to PURGE these from the active accounts and could re-instate them if the player asked them to, assuming nothing changed in the security of the account.

 

Well I managed to login like 2 weeks ago to an account which was 3 years inactive.

 

for those who have ships on a number of servers per account, I would hope that all the uri & credits built up on various servers would also be transferred during merger
