[SC] Server Merge

I have seen this topic for years now and to be honest dont know what is going on in DO right now. Are they going to merge servers? what is the latest news on that?

I have 2 separate accounts on TR3 and Global Europe 1, my TR3 account is a lot better but the server is mostly empty so I prefer to play on Global Europe 1 account. But if the servers are going to merge, that means I should focus on one account and make it as good as possible, right? Or how is the system going to work? Will there be one server for Global Europe, one for Turkey and etc?

 

The latest info about server merges at least that what I know of, from say Twitch streams/the DarkOrbit Discord is(what community managers has said):

The server merges are at least planned to start in January sometime(should also get more detailed ETA's like say at end of January has been said), but it will be somewhat gradual merges aka will just be few or so at first(has been said probably speed up if goes smoothly). As to what servers are being merged together or exactly how many are being merged together:

I at least remember they have said were going to aim for populations similar to GE1 for other servers, but has been said GE1 could possibly be merged sometime later. Though probably shouldn't expect any time soon just one server like Global Europe etc, if that is even something they want to do.


Another thing they've said is that they are going to try and keep the time zone/language cross overs as much as possible to a minimum(if can), so that should give you a good idea of what servers may possibly merge together. Also has been said that if you have accounts on multiple servers and they happen to merge together, you will still be able to play on the individual accounts on the server. Like say by a "character selection" thing. Of course this is at least what I know of like I said from the DarkOrbit Discord and Twitch streams(basically could change of course).

 

mergin same language and same time servers is going to be a pain for the global europe servers

 

I believe the Global servers will pretty much be left alone, servers like US East 1, 2, & 3 will probably be merged depending on the population levels they have decided to achieve. Currently 58 servers and I believe the first round of merges is supposed to take us down to about 40 servers. The thing to remember, if you are complaining about LOW Populations in your maps, the server is probably going to be merged with some one else.
