[SC] Stop Punishing Players that have been playing a long time

It always bugs me when I look at the "First Steps" achievement and know that because I started playing this game before the tutorial came out, this achievement will always be grey... mocking me....

It bugged me more that, because I was over level 20, I could not do ANY of the influence quests in Battle for Influence in the Spring of 2014. Essentially, anyone that had put effort in the game was not able to get 32 million EP, 12.5k honor, 6.1 million credits, 26.9k uridium, 180 gg spins and 3000 rank points for the missions.

The Military Objectives achievement still sits at 10/11 even though all 11 of the quests for the 2015 Battle for Influence were completed. Our favorite support person told me there was nothing she would could do.

Now, with the Pet Event, you have an achievement called Hunter which requires "Complete all easy missions in Attack of the Killer P.E.T.s." Unfortunately, the easy missions are only available for those under level 14.

Here's a crazy idea... when you put stuff in the game, make it available to everyone that is playing the game. Maybe the guys that have been playing for years would like to do a nice easy quest once in a while. I totally understand the minimum level for a quest, but it's just maddening to look at something and think "here's another set of stuff I can't do because I've sunk way too much time and money in this game". The greyed achievement is worse as it will be a constant reminder until the end of this game.

 

Hm, I found your post a bit confusing.

I totally support these two type of missions: easy and difficult. Why? Every MMO game out there has the same things. You can't tell me (level 11 player, with 7 LF-3) to go and kill those hard NPC on upper maps.

On the other hand, you can't let players lower than 14th level to do only one type mission, easy ones, and let all above level 14 do both type of missions, easy and difficult. That's not how things work and that is totally unfair to low level players.

At the end, what happens when you get an achievement? Something special happens? I guess nothing special, and it won't change your game experience at all. The important thing in life is: you can't have everything!

Sure you can. Certain quests are unlocked at a certain level. Playing for a while should occasionally give a small bonus.

But, let's say you go on a cube/gate/quest/uber binge and get the 35 mil XP to hit level 14 before the end of this event. The easy quests will no longer be available to you and then all of the hard ones will be available. You got to do some of the easy quests and now you can do all the hard ones. You won't be able to get the Hunter achievement and it will sit and mock you until you quit the game or the game dies.

ALL that I'm saying is, hey dev team... you're making these quests anyway... let the players that have been playing forever do them as well - less coding for you. The rewards aren't that great on the low level ones so it's not like it's taking cash out of DO's pocket. The high level guys can knock them out in a few minutes so there won't be a crowded field trying to get that one group of NPCs and the guys that care about quest counts might get their number back up since you erased everyone's quest count in January of 2014.

What has to do my level with the understanding of the game? I am one of the oldest players here, have played this game since it was first released.

I was not aware that if I hit level 14 I will get unlocked those quests too. But, even if I do so, what do you think will happen? Do you think I can handle alone those NPC's on upper maps with 2k max damage? I may only complete the first mission, just to fly to some areas and that's all. I am more than sure I won't be able to complete any other missions beside that.

 

Its not hard to ask others to help you with pet quest. If your not on dead server.

 

I am on GE 5 and if I am honest, I have never been on uppers so far on this server. I am trying to box my equipment, so I don't bother much with the difficult quests and I am preety sure I won't be able to hit 14th level. I just want to complete the easy mission quest line and that's all

 

Well.... considering you've gone from level 10 to 11 in the last two weeks when you were asking

and haven't even come close to starting the painfully slow and tedious level 20+ quests... then if you started playing this game seven years ago then you really haven't done much....

Why do you even care? All I was saying is "hey don't put a max level on the quests and if you do anyway, don't run an achievement that can not be achieved". You jump in and say "screw the guys that have been playing forever, I've been playing since the game started and I can still do the easy quests because I'm a level 11... neener neener neener".

Loyalty to the game should result in additional bonuses.

 

Exactly that....why introduce an achievement that cannot be achieved - it makes no sense

 

Hmmm. Why are you talking to me on this language? I don't like the way you talk to me at all, so I will sum up some things cause I see you don't understood much:

• Yes, in 2 weeks got from level 10 to level 11. Why? I am boxing, 24/7. Get it? With boxing I don't level up. Why? Because I think it's the fastest way to get equipment.
• I have played this game from the first version. Do you know what that means? I guess you don't, cause I don't play on that account that I had back 7 years. I have new account, that is old 2 weeks. On the other hand, it is not up to you to judge my leveling and progression in game.

bob here is legendary .and a very dedicated player i think support should fix his problem.

 

How can it POSSIBLY be "unfair" for players who have stayed committed and loyal to their accounts for several years and put countless hours in to be able to do more event quests then 2-week old accounts? I think it is OBVIOUS that lvl 14+-players should be able to complete all quests.

 

Again, why do you even care if the easy quests are available to users at level 14 or above? It doesn't affect you. Your tone will probably change when you hit a certain level and those items are no longer available to you. Might not happen this event. Might not happen next event. But, someday, probably, you will be excluded from doing certain quests because you have put too much time in the game.

I'm really not sure why you decided to turn a thread with a fairly reasonable game request into a justification of your existence in the game. All I was saying is "hey don't put a max level on the quests and if you do anyway, don't run an achievement that can not be achieved". You jump in with your seven years of playing (with what I'm assuming is a six year 300 day break in between your accounts) and say "screw the guys that have been playing forever, I've been playing since the game started and I can still do the easy quests because I'm a level 11... neener neener neener".

I couldn't agree with your more, Bob. I'm a bit of an achievement collector myself (maybe no on DO, but in other games), and it pains me to come across something that I could've had, but can no longer attain due to reasons other than "limited-time-only".

 

I agree with Bob. Easy quests should be available to everyone. One reason for me is I like to experiment with different ships. In one of my hangers, I have a credit ship with credit weapons and shields (only the engines are 7900's). I try to see what NPC's that can be killed without all of the firepower. It would be nice to also have available easy quests. It's something to do when I don't have much time to play this game. Well back to GG in a Nostro lol.

Very good point! i like to go for achievements and this is just another that cant be done.

 

I was complaining somewhere on forum about that but no one cared. Aww.

 

I am with BOB on this one i like to have different goals to work towards i have done the Alpha PET gate and i still didnt get the achieviement its still grey out i play this game just for the NPC quest and to help others and i hate when i cant do a quest because of poor planning (killing 150 ships in 5-1 that quest will not get done)

 

I completely agree with Bob on this one. I am a major collector, love achievements and love completing missions. This is unfair towards all players who have been playing this game for a long time. I can't say that for myself because I've been playing this game for a year and a half, but I am already level 20 and now I can't complete those easy missions. I am pretty furious now because I want that achievement.
All players, minor or major, should be able to complete both easy and difficult missions. I'm not saying they HAVE TO, but I would at least like to have the opportunity.

 

I have to agree with Bob, I gave up with the achievements as soon as First steps came out, I asked support and was told I could get it by starting a new account, lol. I'm not sure if the ppl who run the game understand us players wants and needs
