[SC] THE GREEN BLOB

Hi All,

Well I'm putting this out again because I'm seeing this more on other ships just before a battle. I call it "Green Blob" because it looks like the old syfy monster that crawls up and covers the person as it eats it. Or it looks like the ice cube but green that is around your ship. The Ice Cube it use to attack the enemy to freeze it in space, and is shot at the enemy, but the blob isn't for all I can tell and last longer. I have watched too, and search the area to see how the person got attacked by it. I seen no mine or ships. Unless a ship can fight cloaked. If there are aliens there they don't have it because it would have been on me too.

I need my fellow pilots to help me with this mystery for me. Maybe one of you can answer this question. I put it out on the Forum, and was told it was a virus that attack's the ship. It maybe, but I don't think so.

I think it is some kind of shield because I seen it on a lot of different ships in my company and other companies ships too. Just before battle I seen ship get covered in it. I also notice that it wasn't place there by others. It just appear around the ship and I think the Captain of the ship did it. If it is an attack weapon why wasn't it place on my ship during a battle to weaken me?

That is why I think it is a kind of a shield. We could be the only two ship there, and I didn't hit the ship with the green blob. It disappear after awhile and the ship looks ok. If it is attacking the ship, it might also help protect the ship too. I don't know and I don't understand how it get's there. I have attacked the same things others had attacked 100s of time and never got the green blob on me.

Does anybody really know what it is and what it does? Or is this one of the secrets out there I know but you don't get to know?

If you know would you tell me? Others might like to know too.

How did you get it and how can I get it? If it is a weapon the someone uses what is the "Name Of the Weapon?"

That event is from long ago, but u can find all the answers u need for ur question on that link(Its just something i dug up drom faqs).

 

We told you then it was the INFECTION from the Parasite Tide Event. The players are infecting themselves with the IM-01 Mine or having a friend shoot them with PIB-100 Laser ammo, both are currently available in the Shop, as of this posting. The link MyBigi posted tells you about the effects of the INFECTION and IF I remember correctly this effect lasts 15 minutes, increases damage by a percentage and decreases your ships speed while infected.

 

Thank you for your answer, but why would one want to be infected. Does it protect your ship as you fight other?

I have both and use the PIB-100 in battle. I never saw the ship get a green blob around it.

Now the mine, I have it but never used it before. I'm not a mine person, but I have them just in case I need to use them. I just never had a need for them.

I want to thank you for your information. Your web page on this is quite informative. I understand a lot better about the green blob. It is something that isn't good, and why do I see it a lot too?

I was out yesterday, and one of my fellow company pilot was with me. Out of the blue he had the green blob on his ship. We were just sitting there just in space. Nothing was going on, and we weren't fighting either. The Blob just appeared around his ship. Then he took off and started to fight aliens. I went out too and fought with him and by myself. I don't know what happen to him because he was somewhere else or left the game. I tried to email him, but he didn't respond to me.

That is why I restarted this Green Blob again. He/we was/were there and boom he was covered and I wasn't. He didn't ask for help or look concern either. I have that Immunizer from collecting the purple turds "Hybrid Allow." I have never used it, but I have one.

I saw him to day and his ship looks fine, and he fighting. I don't know, and I just wanted to be there for myself and company.

The reason the "Blob" just appeared is the other ship deployed one of the IM-01 mines and did not move so it infected his ship. This only affects the ship that hits it. The reason some people use it is for the extra damage they can do and do not care about the side affects of less HP and Speed. I pasted the most important information from the link above for your convenience along with a picture of what you are describing (ignore the "exploding Bonus Box" as this was for the even only);

Plague debuff
When a player gets infected by either an exploding Bonus Box or when hit by infectious ammunition, the following debuff is applied:
• + 10% more damage
• -15 % hull
• -10% speed
• Debuff ends after 15 minutes or on death.
• EMP does not remove the effect.

Here is what an infected player looks like:

So check your Mine Supplies and if you have any of the IM-01 (spiny mines) deploy one and sit there to infect yourself. I am posting, from the D O Bible, where to look for your mines while in the maps;

The Mines menu shows all of the Mines available for use in DarkOrbit.​

It will show how many of each type that you have for use with a numeric value. ​

IF you own any of the mines shown they will be in color and will have a number showing how many you have. The problem with the picture used is it does not show the IM-01 mine, but I have added the information, again from the link above;

Infection mine

• Name: Infection Mine
• Short name: IM-01
• Damage: Standard mine damage (equal to ACM-01)
• Additional effect: Applies plague debuff to target player(s).

Like always your are a fountain of information. Your replies are always well written and answer my questions. I'm glad you are here and glad you are very helpful.

I do own the mines, but never deploy them. In fact I rarely use them, and I have several of the different types. I might try to do what you say.

I do have them too
And started using them when i need to Kill some Big NPC like UBER Kristallons or something like that.
That 10% Damage does help. Especially if used with 10% HP return/Leach from damage

 

Actually my "Fountain of information" comes from the FAQ, Event FAQ, and D O Bible, but then it does not hurt that I also see ALL NEW Postings when I log in to do my SkyLab Transfers 3 times a day. And unlike others that do not research what they suggest/post try to assist but then I am not perfect either and the memory does fail me occasionally, but do admit/delete when I have misled someone with the incorrect information. I am playing my weakest account and don't have all of the toys of my main accounts at his disposal and have never had a UFE account, but I keep trying.
