  1. Dark Orbit Staff,

I play on US East 2. I understand it is an English chat server. I for one only speak English, but find it hard to believe that there is a rule that players that speak the same language cannot speak in whispers without being banned. Seeing that whispers are private conversations I do not see the problem with allowing the use of other languages in it. The only problem I may see is enforcing bad language rules, which could be enforced by automated moderators. I have see them used to moderate chats before in Dark Orbit when Moderators are not available. So I do not see any problems with one being used to enforced the rules in whispers for bad language use in other languages. I hope this idea can be implemented and make it more comfortable for players in other countries to play with each other.

    Thank You,
    TerrorInSpace

  2. hello TerrorInSpace
I have to say that much as your idea would be good, if it weren't for trolls and other abusers of the T+Cs, whispers are not a voluntary part of chat (abusers can be ignored by the /ignore <username> chat-function but not all users are aware of this) and the misuse of language in whispers is unpleasant ... Whispers can be used to send abusive comments in any language...
as far as using an 'auto-filter' is concerned.. many languages use the same format so if I were to say (...) and it is a swear, or other term, in another language or part therof, I get a chat kick... I have to relog regardless that I am a decent person with honourable intentions...
the chat system may not be always immediate (or perfect) but the use of the Chat board in forum will gain results, in time...
As I think has been said... if you feel the need to become a CM then that is something you can apply for ( as per the thread ..this-is-the-speakers-sorner-is-is-not-stop-deleting-my-threads-i-am-a-paying-customer.112780/#post-880273)...

  3. Something you may not understand with the whisper rule is you have to whisper in English on your server if you are in Global or Company chat. If you make your own room or are in group chat, you can chat or whisper in any language. As far as the bad language, there is a filter in place. The problem comes with the various ways people type the bad language as the filter really just picks up the english spelled versions. Since you stated you only speak English, how do you know whispers from other languages are using bad language?

    theOtherKey likes this.
  4. the problem is in languages that are not supported by darkorbit and bigpoint, BP brags about players from over 200 different countries playing this game and jet they only support like 20 languages.
chat sistem is unfair to others, my language is not there and i cant whisper to ppl from my country on global chat at all.

  5. i just said that... You can not whisper in "global or company" chat in another language. Create a private room or group chat for talking in another language. This is the same thing the mods say.

  6. Hi,

Unfortunately, Bigpoint are unable to provide support for every language. We do allow other languages in group chats or private chats and a limited amount in whispers. The Non English Language (NEL) rule is enforced in whispers as these are often used to swear at and insult other players. Whilst we do have a limited 'extended' vocabulary for such things, we cannot make sure that a conversation is not breaking the rules as efficiently if it is in NEL.

As far as the filter is concerned, this is in place with the most common words to issue minor sanctions as a warning before the chat is disrupted for other people. Unfortunately, there is no way to 'turn it off' in other areas of the chats and you must therefore work around it if you wish to chat in your native tongue in groups/private.

There are, of course, many 3rd party chat clients and platforms that are used by the community where the owners make their own rules (or not in the case of some I've been in as a player).

I hope this has helped your understanding of the policy.

    Regards

    NM

  7. To All who Responded,

Thank you for your responses. To the person asking me "how do I know if they are using bad language?" I never said I knew that any were. I was saying the only problem I could foresee, was some using bad words in their language in whispers. This was not a statement that means they are definitely doing it.
I do see how it could be impossible to monitor all 200 countries languages. So my idea is a flop. I am just glad that some could get on here and discuss it rationally.

    Thank you,

  8. There is nothing wrong with the idea in itself. I am sure the mods just start rolling their eyes when looking at the chat on the global servers, lol.
