When a new player registers all that they see this game is is what they see when they open the star chart, which is 15 maps (as this is all you can view until you buy the advanced jump cpu, so would it not be a good idea to re-do the star chart so that its full screen and ALL of the maps are shown on the same page ? By all of the maps im talking all of lowers maps, all of uppers maps all of the galaxy gate maps the group gate map and so on . This may seem a trivial thing but if you think about it well its adding a lot more to the game straight away for new players as they see it as a much much bigger playing area rather then just seeing the lowers maps on their star chart.

By doing one huge full screen star chart it is advertising the in-game playing area much better then it is being advertised at the moment and is more likely to catch peoples curiosity and make them play that extra bit so they can explore these maps.

    Just a thought .

  2. A good thought but starting out, the lower maps is all you can even get to. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing maps you can't even go to because you are not high enough in levels. As frustrating as it is for noob's, its even more frustrating for veteran players that start another account. Veteran players already know about all the maps and even without seeing them, get frustrated when flying up to a portal they have been through hundreds of times, only to discover they have not gotten the level needed yet.

I say you don't need to see all the maps all the time. Also not all players computers will be able to handle that large of a map.

  3. It's not necessarily a bad thing either, the last thing we need is noobs going to uppers to be instantly popped by players and high level npcs

NOOBS cannot go to uppers until they reach the required level at which point the quests demand they go to uppers !! So can someone explain your logic as its confusing me because nothing is changing other then the star chart !
i simply said it would be an idea to display what the game has to offer as new players do not even know that there are other maps in uppers so all they are seeing is the lowers maps and given they are all empty well its not doing the game any favours by hiding the uppers maps and pirate maps is it ?
would it really hurt that much to simply make one big star chart that captures peoples imaginations and makes them want to carry on out of curiosity ? it doesnt mean they can go to those levels does it ? its just an advertisement for what the game has to offer new players thats all .

But there is the charm of the game if you don't see everything so when you make progress you experience the game more, you see there is more to it than you first thought and you can enjoy it more.

But new players have no idea there is loads more to the game, they simply register then fly around 4 maps in their own lowers which have rubbish npc in them and virtually no players what so ever and they naturally think that is all the game is about ! This game needs to show itself off more to new players and its not doing that at the moment but by making a brand new star chart which shows all of the maps it opens up their imagination and curiosity to see more and stick around longer . Obviously they still cant get into the maps until they are the correct level but it gives them something to aim for and hopefully they stay around longer then they are at the moment . There is no harm in re-doing the star chart so it acts as an advertisement board for the game as the existing star chart is just flat and boring .
The idea of a star chart is that it not only gives you a map to look at but it also advertises what the game is offering .

  7. Hello all

I have to say that SpudnicK has a point.. and I know the other contributors have points also...
    What would 'Mystery'..
...be if you didn't know it was there..

    as PSKSUNDANCE stated
maybe seeing the other maps is the Spur that SpudnicK intended... but as FooJubIsBack2 said they should not be able to go there... only see the possibilities and imagine what the game 'will' be like when they pass their Initiation to lvl 10-12.. (not that we need to mention that the x-2 maps are still open to Enemy of all levels)

Maybe there needs to be a more active 'Help' section... I am aware that the 'New' quests have help now... but advice as to 'What might be a good idea' before you go there... or even which Ship might be good for a 'New' player... I see sooo many take the 'offers' and find a Goli with no Defence is just Cannon-fodder for the FE and above.. They are not stupid.. they are following what DO appear to offer as a 'Better' ship :p

When you see only '$$$' signs in the eyes of your Host... well..
