  1. Well, I finally did it. After playing for 3.5 years, and being active, or at least trying to be active in the forums, I started over. And I must say, I was pleasantly surprised.

When I first started, you came in playing a peanut. You shot a couple NPC, picked up some cargo and followed a ship to a portal. After that, you were off to play in the wild.

Now you Start in the wild, but you are walked through a few missions, while under protection from attack. At one point, you are even warned against attacking other players as you are not ready for that kind of interaction. I remember threads where I and others mentioned something to that effect in the past few months. It is good to see it in the tutorial stage.

Also, there is a mini gate, for the new player to go through. Another thing mentioned here in the forums. Finally after about 6 hours of play, I was attacked with all the lastest tricks and popped. As I had been playing the server since I first started playing the game, I was pretty tickled about the attack.

Overall, I was very impressed with how the game is set up for new players. Obviously, I was not coming in cold like most players but it still takes some adjustment when you start from the beginning. I tried over and over again to just fly along like normal shooting npc as I go and getting frustrated because I had to stop and go back. I will be looking to see a difference in how I am attacked with this account. I will point out that I intend to keep this account as much of a credit account as possible so as to be able to stay closer to noob level as can be. No LF3, 7900 or BO2 for this one. No uri ships either for that matter. I am betting that I can still gain a little rank since most new players come and go but other than that, I am hoping to appear pretty new and upcoming. ;)

Let me tell you my experience as an actual free player. We actually do have uri ships and uri equipment from auction like goliath,vengi,aegis,bo2,lf3,etc... . Whenever we can, we get uri stuff for creds from auction so we can save our uri to buy things only obtainable with uri like drone formations. We also always take advantage of the 15-20% discount. I don't buy log disks; I auction for them because that way i don't have to spend uri. I have a citadel which makes a daily transport of promerium which I use to build up credits which I mostly use cloaks and log disks. My main npc killing ship is my aegis elite. I use spearhead for boxing and sb. I use my goliath for hunting. I do not have kamikaze because it's not worth having for non-premium. My pet is kept at lvl 9 to avoid increasing fuel costs. I have 2 lf4s. 1 from first epsilon and another from a booty box. I have 4 zeus peices, and 3 apis pieces because I only collect on zeus day. In fact I got one of my lf4s on a zeus day from booty box. I have a havoc drone design from my first zeta. I also have a herc from some demaner event quest where you had to kill 5. I wish I got another herc from an earlier event. Right now I'm building up my hades because it seems like a cheap source of lf4s. Oh yeah I did bks all the time to get fe. Now that I am fe;during events I box to get pet fuel and other times I pally. Pallying is much faster gate building for free players. When I hunt I only use x4 I receive from gates. I remember when I just started back then I was a big boy and getting fe was like impossible especially when repping required repair credit so instead I just bought another bigboy. It was so hard I had quit back in the old days. I came back later to see if auctions got easier and they did.

  3. Everything you said sounds good Xuhu99, except ONE BIG thing.

DO NOT try to build Hades gates, they arn't worth it because :

    1. It only has a 1 in 8 (or so) chance of LF4....Kappas are 1 in 4 (with a 1 in 4 chance for HERC's and booster too)

    2. You need to be in a group to start it

    3. The amount of ammo you need to use is WAY to much

and 4. The uri payout stinks for the level of work.

You should focus on Zetas first as you get a chance for a Havok (1 in 3 or 4 odds) and GREAT rewards (the log disks and booty keys will help a lot). You'll need to do about 25-35 Zetas for all those Havoks.

After you are full Havok, AND have Apis and Zues drone (which you can get for free from those booty keys you've been stacking from Zeta rewards) you should do Kappas. These will get you all (or most) of your LF4 while you also get Hercs.

Through all this, you should enough URI to get a long way towards upgrading all your equipment to level 16. Do drones first, then I would do LF4 and BO2 together, as that gives the best cost / benifit return ratio.

I stress doing Zeta first, not for the Havoks (they are nice) but for the HUGE push you can make towards Apis and Zues drones AND build up your pilot bio from all the free log disks. Both these things are VITAL for PVP, since you have to have them, might as well get them the cheapest way possible.

After all this....well that's about 2 years of playing right there 45-100 total gates depending on your good/bad luck. You should be almost UFE.

Then you can fly around and think "Gees what am I even doing here ?" lolz :p

Hades is one of the best paying gates for its price , if you using rebate prem on gg discount day it almost pay for itself. + - 10k,
Well depends on your group. But ufes would like this gate. If hes noob he should start with zetas and then focus kappas.

↓ only 1 lf4 + around 10 mil honor. Was at 510k uri when started and ended with like 420k. Not a lot ammo.

Okay I said I was currently building Hades in a way that sounded like I was farming Hades and avoiding other gates. I still am able to build zetas as my main gate because I build a Hades and every once in a while someone on global chat will create Hades group. During the times I'm not immediately in some Hades group I am building zeta. Your method has one problem. When I do kappa, i'm expected get the same amount of lf4s as i am expected to get hercs. This means when I get all the hercs I need I'd still be deficient on lf4s since i need more lf4s than I need of hercs. Even all the booty keys probably won't be enough to get enough lf4s to get ufe. This means I will be forced to do epsilons after i get all my hercs. Epsilons, although yield more lf4s for less energy than kappa, are nowhere near as efficient as Hades when comparing numbers of gate energies per lf4. Of course the limiting factor to Hades is it takes time to find a group. I'm gonna guess I'll be doing a Hades about once a month. Therefore the best combination is to build Hades and do them every now and then (as I'm doing zeta, then kappa, then epsilon) to take advantage of having more opportunities of finding a group rather than wait for kappas to be finished and then start building epsilons and hades. So yeah at no point am I actually only farming Hades, I'd just be doing them every now and then. Also since i'm in a group, I just use x1 ammo and my group members use stronger ammo and they kill npcs faster so it's not too bad for noobs. For upgrades I always wait for upgrade hour. Since it only lasts 1 hour, I have to get as many upgrades in as possible during that hour. Everything else I agree with you and will be taking your advice for.

  8. As the Hades groups usually do more than one gate you might want to have one open and another ready to open (you can have 2 complete gates available) and do 2 gates with that group. This is also a good idea to plan on doing gates on Kronos Days where you get double parts and this will allow you to get Kronos a lot sooner.
Remember these players here are talking Free 2 Play not spending any money on the game.
I would agree with most of this except that since the higher the upgrade the longer it takes, get the drones to level 8 then start doing the shields and LF-4's (if you have any) and your rocket launcher. Continue doing the drones and by the time you have the drones level 16 the other items should be within a few upgrades of being completed. The big issue is without the savings of the wallet you are probably using the chart of best percentage for least expense, instead of guaranteed 100% upgrade.
You will want to get these items from Auction as already stated, the old school FE was generated by buying the first 2 Iris's with Uri collected from boxes, and the next 6 won from Auction. The BO-2 and LF-3 we bought from Uri as the Auction seemed to be way too expensive (20 Mill or higher). The ships were bought from Auction (Leonov was always the best till you could FE the Vengi or leveled to go to uppers, then switch to Goliath when you could FE it) Home map advantage in the Leonov can not be beat for benefits but it still pops like crazy.

Remember Free2Play still try to become UFE they just find it so hard being popped all the time. You actually have an unfair advantage as you are known as a better player and get some extra help an actual NOOB will not get.

yeah to better mirror a noob. You have to not let people know your noob account name.

  10. He doesn't have any obligation to tell you what it is, it's his account, his decision.

I think there is misunderstanding from either me or u. I said not let people know he's on his noob account so it doesn't bias the experience. That way people treat him like he's an actual noob rather than treat him as someone they know. I never asked for his noob account, in fact I said the opposite, keep it confidential.

  12. It is a mute point guys he used a variance of the main account name so it is the same as his main just lower cased a few letters or added a space I don't remember the difference but have seen him and know who he is because the name is so similar.

  13. Within the game, there is a big difference between my main and my noob account name. My main account name is nothing like my forum name. Some players refer to me the same way on both but I do get looked over for the most part while on my noob account like I don't rate. LOL TBH, I got a surprise a couple days ago as a FE/UFE player was blasting me and stopped. Same player asked me not to quit the game as there are not enough new players sticking it out. At any rate it is similiar to this forum name so those following what I want to do, know who I am when they see me.

Also, what keeps getting missed is this account will never be meant to get "FE" as stated above. I will be running credit lasers, shields, speed, launcher, and drones on a credit ship. Its for fun, and will draw out how bad things are for noob players trying to make it in the game.

Hades, you are right with me being known but the help does not come from the majority of my "main" friends. Most of them actually have not made the connection. Most of the ones that have still don't lift a finger to assist. There have been some players trying to help me out, and I have some friends that I run with on both accounts. That said, with my schedule, I can't always play at the same time, or with them. In all actuality, I have gotten more help from fellow NOOB players trying to get started. That has made it more fun as stronger players "in group" rob you of more rewards due to their increased firepower.

I have found saving credits and having ammo/rocket cpu's to be a chore. I am doing like most and just blasting away through the missions so saving has become difficult. Since it is Dec, I won't let it get to me and will work on saving for more drones next month.

  14. Heh ^ when I wrote my comment to Xuhu, I forgot you were the OP....AT this point in the game, I think basic FE is still noob status these days. Max speed, about 250k shield, and 5k damage on x1 in a goli, still sounds sooooo weak now : / (which is close to FE goli stats?).

Good luck if you just rock the credit equipment, that will be a challenge. ( or maybe not??)

  15. Thanks, the challenge is on. :D

By my calculations in the nostro the max I will get with seprom on weapons and shields is 2742 x1 damage, and 122.6k shields, with max speed around 475 with prom. Of course this is assuming they never put the designs for it on sale. Come on DO.

  16. Weren't the designs a PURCHASE item so as a FREE player you won't get them (or will you?). Get the SkyLab pumping and transfer as often as you can even if you don't have time to play, it takes a couple minutes and you could do it at work, if you have a 'puter and internet there.

  17. You have a point. And since they will probably follow Lance formation, they shall keep me honest and my account free. Skylab is going like crazy, about every two hours, its transfer time. And trust me, I have been working on it at work too. :p

My tablet goes everywhere with me.

Just remembered that the designs for nostro were never up for purchase. They were prizes for recruiting new players. The question will be if they are going to bring them into the shop or not. Since the nostro is a credit ship, they should be credit designs like for the big boy.

  18. OR recruit 25 accounts to get to level 10 before they get P O'd at D O, yea like that is going to happen now a days, LOL

  19. you need level 12 for the designs and the havocs

  20. Thank you for the correction, it used to be level 10 for the goliath design, before the RE-LOADED was loaded.
