i liked the premise of the game but the progression isnt welcoming in any way towards new players mainly in part to veterans oneshotting them at every turn, the speed at which you make progress is stupidly slow and you basicly have to dump 100's of $ to speed that progression up, which is a basic money grab in my opinion.

considering the long history of the game (lifetime of the game itself) there should be alot more content even considering a very small team of people working on it.
with more content you could speed up progression for new players attempting to get into the game, without some form of $$$$$$$ spending being mandetory to even try and get to where veterans are at.

i myself probably will never return to play again, though i do hope that something along these changes will be implemented for future players to enjoy, my enjoyment of this game has been the few veteran players i've encountered who help and encourage new players to stick around and have fun. as rare as they are they are most likely the only reason this game isnt fully dead yet.

just my 2 cents on how the game seemed to me as a new player.

  2. Sorry I just find this kinda funny cuz this game has gotten nothing but more noob friendly over the years

  3. Are you kidding me? Being two shot is friendly to you? Mostly by the same person over and over?

I don't usually respond to threads like this, but this comment is absolutely absurd. How many people help new players exactly? Infact, how many new players do you see often? During the event I saw like 7, tops and that was a record.

How can you ever complete missions as a new player with aliens 10 times stronger than you without any help? The OP is completely right, I couldn't agree with them more, and ignorant comments like yours is why this game is dying out except the veteran and cheats that play.

  4. And with that now I have to chime in. I play the new player roll all the time. I take it with the OP's post, that he got overwhelmed with the last event. Either that or morning attackers got to him. Players, especially the veterans come in to get kills whenever they can. Its not that easy for them as the targets will run for the ports when the announcement gets out.

That said, I am not sure where the complaint about content comes from. The OP states that there is trouble now getting missions done while being targeted. I am no-where close to being FE and have killed all of the NPC in maps except for cubes, Deadly Battleray, and the BL NPC alone. I can tell you one of the secrets to killing stuff is being quiet. Even if you get killed a few times, shut up about it in chat. Players will move on as they eventually get the message that you are too weak for them and they do not get any rewards.

This is a marathon game. Lots of players have been playing since the game came out. Myself, about half that time. Are you hoping to catch the top 10? If then, then yes, you need money to do that. However, you can progress just fine not spending a dime. I am doing it now. I started playing with just the bottom tier ships and flax drones and finished Kronos just a few months back in a Bigboy. I have killed all in 4-5 except the Deadly Battleray I spoke of. Now PVP is not my best feature, but I knew this coming in.

This game has gotten more noob friendly. I have collected a lot of goodies from the monthly calendars over the past few years. I still get one-shot, but get a laugh out of it now. I mean really, I am in a Bigboy, stop dancing. I am going to assume AF is referring to BL NPC. Everything else a player can build up to. Most new players can build up to them faster than I did, as long as they stick around for more than a day. I am still working through my boss and Uber missions, fun. I am surprised I don't see more players in that map but most players do actually group to do those missions. The main issue is actually that. Players group up and fly through the NPC missions just so they can say they are done, and then are on a mad trip to do the PVP. With that done, do you really expect there to be clear maps for others to do those PVE missions. My opinion, no player should be allowed in anything stronger than a Bigboy with flax drones for a year. Then you would figure out how to enjoy the game and to relax when the veterans come a calling. Those veterans are bored out of there minds. We all are, which is why we play games but they are silly bored. They are trying to figure out who they can pop, and get closer to the top of the rankings. Don't let them get to you. Everybody needs something to say they are good at and for some, a game is the only thing they have.

  5. Yeah this game was in its prime back in the day when browser games were king in 2006-2010. Back then you just had to login, hit play, and boom hundreds and thousands of other players ready to have fun because it was quick and easy to play.

But its 2019 now, and Bigpoint for some reason is still on browser games. At this point its terribly inefficient in business and hardware to run a browser game company, I mean seriously who plays browser games now? At this point its better and more efficient to download a game and play it instead of using the browser because of how much memory it uses on big browsers and just because download games have high quality compared to this. And lo and behold like a prophecy foretold Adobe Flash is ending soon and Darkorbit is doomed because they admitted they cant make this game downloadable because the code is too old.

I'm glad you tried this out, but honestly for your sake I'm glad it didn't work out because this game really is just a money grab, you know those cheesy malware ads on your computer you see on major websites advertising a bootleg copy or suspicious game thats ripped off from a major game? Thats this game now unfortunately.

  6. When did they say they can't make it downloadable? They already proved it was over a year ago.

  7. There is a whole forum post in Speaker's Corner on the subject.

Basically OP32 confirmed it himself that "Darkorbit's code is too old to be converted to HTML or Unity and it would take too much time to re-write it."

So what they are going to do instead is do what Seafight did, they are going to make their own "Client," basically a custom browser with Flash Player installed.

However the problem with this is that since Flash is no longer supported by the company Adobe, it is very easy for actors to target computers with Viruses, Malware, etc, because there will be no more security updates.

And for the cherry on top nothing about the game's performance will change, same exact game you see now just a custom browser.

    That is the post, enjoy

  9. so, noob friendly is the new word for botters ?

  10. Mm no it’s the new word for noob friendly

  11. I’m not kidding. Dying as a noob is not a foreign concept in any game, let alone a pvp game. It’s not new to the game, it’s always been easy to kill noobs - however it is now exponentially easier to progress from noob to fe/semi-ufe.

And if you’re dying to the same person over and over, take the hint. Change map, get someone to help, or get off for a bit.

I’ve seen plenty of new/relatively new players, particularly during the event that made them 100% invincible to pvp for 3 whole weeks.

If you’re struggling to complete quests with aliens 10x stronger than you, here’s a wild idea, don’t take on aliens 10x stronger than you. There’s a very clean cut order of difficulty. 95% of aliens in this game aren’t even “difficult”, they can be circled regardless of hp shield or damage.

The ignorant comments like mine are backed by over a decade of this game with 30+ fe+ accounts built. Pardon my ignorance.

  12. How is this game noob friendly?

Why would I start over on this game, spend hundreds or thousands of dollars (or bot, which everyone does now) when I can simply buy a new account for 200-400 dollars that has a top user rank, General, basically unlimited ammo and full equipment.

This is what you keyboard warriors don't understand and how delusional the tryhard players are, they can add all the "new" stuff like player protection, which are old ideas and concepts that Darkorbit were too lazy to add in the first place, mind you, but the bottom line is that this game is too expensive and its a shallow, cheesy ripoff now and you guys just can't see it as it is. Like in my previous comment I said its just a stupid malware advertisement type of game you see on Youtube.

I mean seriously, everything they come out with you can either craft it for a ton of resources ordinary and lower players don't have, or you can wait a few weeks and just buy it with money every time.

Every single time - they come out with something new, then they just end up putting it in the shop to buy it. "Noob friendly" I guess, even though the OP is living evidence of how noobs see this game now and typed it on this very forum, yet you guys still deny it and defend this game.

Enjoy your "Darkorbit shuts down" voucher codes.

  13. Ok, at least we saw they have a client. It was demo-ed on twitch. Funny others can make private servers of the same game. Maybe it was copied by the original coders before they left, or just ran by BP and they don't want anyone to know.

  14. Hi All,

I help when I can no matter what the company the newbe is. I don't hunt players and this game is full of missions in killing players. I like PvE. I was there 3 times and my first two ships I was helped. My third ship, I'm on my own. I didn't have the help like I did when I first started out many years ago. Ship 2 I was hunted down because I was new, but not very much. My third ship it seems I have a target on my back. High levels love killing me over and over again. Now with MCC's even my own company has killed me. I don't fly like I use to, but I'm here everyday to collect my daily bonus. I can build up my ships without spending tons of dollars which I don't have or want to spend here if I did have the cash.

  15. Comprehensible reasons, these issues exist for years, but were not fully solved. Dark Orbit lacks of basic MMORP features, which guarantee fairness.

Making progress with the "normal" gameplay (popping aliens) is horrible and exhausting, it rather feels like a work than enjoying a game. The best way to earn Uridium as a small F2P player is IMO collecting bonus boxes (~6-7 K per hour), which is one of the most boring things and still meh.

At least they try to create more item categories as you can see in the latest announcements, more variety is always welcomed.
