[SC] Why ?

Why does D.O. run events that no one in the dev team watches for problems ?
It happens so often that all the players expect problems with bugs in the events so
why is it that the dev team doesn't ? Why are the Headquarters and announcements not updated more frequently to match events and even sometimes oh the currant month ? Oh and my Fav like this weekend double GG event no notice and it's still not in events . Does D.O really not understand that word of mouth is the best advertising and they have a huge mass of players that are very unhappy? When I start a new game FIRST thing I do is look in the forums to find out how the peeps who already play feel about the game and by that standard D.O. has a significantly enormous problem dealing with the player based problems and game stability by way of implementation of events and dealing with the problems that all events have . So my final question is why does D.O. think that moving forward with a major game update in the near future will help when they are totally head in the sand with the currant players ? Is this how they plan on getting rid of the old time players that have in large part built this game?No players = no game .

 

They have chosen to use the "Breaking News" on the Back Page to inform us of this stuff instead of having the Mods make posts for these. They are also posting these things in the Calendar (above) when the Mods have been given notice of them. There is an announcement about the upcoming launch of the Assembly System/Crafting that was posted to the Event Faqs instead in the Event Announcements but it is still being reported.

 

A better question would be how does quality control check for problems. They had a rep on one of the Twitch feeds but from what she said, she mainly looks for things that have possibly been pointed out. That team should be playing the game like everyone else and then they would have a great shot at discovering the same issues that we discover. We as players don't expect it, as much as just look for where te problems are. We are the best quality control. Unfortunately, we don't get paid for it, nor compensated normally.

Headquarters and announcements is not updated on time because its the responsibility of the all volunteer moderator force who as to have time to get the information as well. These people do more than just mod the chat and forums as they possibly have paying jobs as well. Since this is not their main job, there is no set schedule for them to do the job, and I would bet no set schedule for when they get the information. If they recieved the information with a timeline for publication, I am sure things would flow better.

The Double GG Event is posted on the main page in the newsletter for all to see.

It is good you look in the forums for information about a game upon starting it. I for one didn't know about the forums when I first started and I would venture to guess that since there is not something that says go look at the forums upon starting, I am not the only one. When you first start playing, your doing exactly that...playing. You don't even look at the backpage until you have played for a little while, or until you play the next time.

Also, according to the Dev's comments, if you have an idea about how they can get better with current players, post it in the idea section with a thorough explaination about how it could be done. Players come and go, unfortunately, but the money keeps rolling in.

 

I must say that since this is the second weekend they have run this I would have thought these issues would have been seen the first weekend not on this one. But then we did also have Kronos Day going on also.

To answer with regards to HQ/Announcements & Calendar -

When we get announcements to post, we post them as soon as we can. Not everything gets announcements though, like these day/weekend events that reoccur. Most announcements are given to us and some we might put together for you when appropriate or we feel is needed.

The galaxy gate double rewards event is apparently a reoccurring one, I would have to guess like the LF-4 or Zeus days, in which case we will only be able to advise you they are happening once we know - usually when it crops up on the backpage.

The game is utilizing the breaking news section and backpage, with both game-type events (Spaceball, Sector Control etc) showing on the backpage calendar, and day/weekend/extended events showing in breaking news or pop up layers. We've seen instances of having to X out of 4-5 layers just logging into the game in the past which made people grumbly - now some of that goes to the breaking news section instead to notify everyone.

I hope that helps with that aspect at least.

As for the issues that cropped up so far with the double rewards event going again... these were passed up (I think atm it is namely the Lambda/Kronos part issue). Hopefully it helps for next time.
