Server problems/Lag Problems

I still that in the last Developer notes of several changes made to D.O., but no mention of
the most annoying problems that have yet to be taken care of.
1. the lag problem in US3 due to server in ability to handle a small amount of players
playing at the same time, have experienced this first hand during the deamaner freighter event
were it was almost impossible to play when just 10 to 15 players playing at the same time.
This is due to the server being to small to handle the load of several players playing at the same
time.
2. because of this problem US3 has become a ghost of what it used to be and players are
going to larger servers such as GA5.
I have brought this problem up several times over the year, and have seen several other
things taken care of but this one. Pls take care of this problem before it's to late and US3 only
has 1 or 2 players left because of the server lag problem. Also the Server Lag problem is not
due to a Flash Player problem.

 

Another cause of server lag can also depend on the players' distance to where the server is hosted.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing these issues. We are always proactive in providing support feedback and lag is always one of the issues on the agenda. Unfortunately there is not a single fix for users to stop any lag they experience since lag can come in different forms for different reasons, such as;

- Distance from server
- Graphic load on the map
- Ongoing events
- DDoS attacks on servers
- System hardware
- Whether you run DarkOrbit alone, or have other tabs open in the background

What i do recommend (even though we do report these issue to support to look at), is that any users who find that lag is disrupting their game play should try to alter their in-game settings and experiment with different browsers.

Unfortunately there is not much else we can do other than say "We hear you", and that these performance issues are something that we do report on a frequent basis.
