Spearhead... the worst ship of the game

I realized that I've just wasted 112 million credits for spearhead. I tried to use it with my clan mates, but it is terrible. Inexistent cargo, too few slot lasers on ship, although with UAVs you can be helped. Abilities are useless, one of them is absurd, what can do for me the recon ability? Nothing. Target marker gives an insignificant bonus damage. JAMX and ultimate cloaking are the only that can help. I was also going to bid for its two design. Luckily, I didn't.

 

... Didn't you read the stats of the spearhead and what it's abilities do before bidding for it?

I'm not saying the spearhead is exactly amazing although it does have its uses. It does kind of tell you exactly what it does in the shop, you shouldn't really have been surprised at all by what the abilities did and how much cargo / laser slots it had etc.

 

I've read the stats, but I didn't think that in the practice it would be so poor.

112m credits is an absolute steal for that ship and recon skill allows you to locate enemies on the minimap before they can see you. Combined with ulticloak this makes it extremely useful for sneaking up on targets undetected.

It has fewer laser slots because of the speed and the target marker can be used not only for the outfit damage boost but also to show your outfit where the target is. If you can get a lock on a cloaked ship then use target marker pinpoint his location for the rest of the team allowing them to get lock also.

The spear has so many uses I think you got a bargain but I don't know how many lf4 you have so some of those uses might be limited. If you have a 2nd hangar in 5-2 then you can use the spear for collecting pally and the cargo space doesn't matter so much.

If you have cbs on your server then spear is good for checking out what's going on there without getting spotted. Many players are also using it to play space("steal")ball.

Overall it was introduced as an outfit ship and is best played in that role but if you have enough damage it can be pretty destructive by itself too.

Lol. It sucks. UFE anything is good, but the ship as a standalone still sucks.

 

Well if your awful at the game then the Spearhead can seem like a crappy ship to you. It was designed to be a scouting ship doe, besides that it has some cool abilities and can be useful for hunting in groups or trolling enemies.

So when are you going to post about the phoenix being bad? Or the liberator? And then say you read the stats?

The spearhead is a very useful ship. For 5 years I play this game and have reached a fairly decent spec` when I play my favoured vengie for hunting. The spearhead has contributed all my havocs, most of my LF4s and atleast 2 mil of my x4 to my hangar halls. A couple of hours boxing each day with a box doubler is, in my opinion, good value but more importantly `relaxing` . This little spearhead IS a very useful ship

No, seriously. It's a decent ship. You aren't using it right.

 

Spearhead is a decent ship ya know. it's good for hunting or hiding. the spearhead ship just takes a good configuration and a player that knows how to use it well

 

each ship has its use a good player makes use of them we have a few that hunt in them on gb2 and they know how to use them well and they just do it 4 fun as for profit making work something out a few have said great 4 boxs and palla

 

When it comes to recon the spearhead is a perfect ship. However the spearhead is really only effective when it comes to recon. Other then that the spearhead has only 5 lasers while the leonov has six. And, 100,000 hp which you can lose pretty easily. So in a Pvp between a FE Spearhead and a FE Goliath that both had Bo2's and Lf3's the spearhead would lose. Get another ship because in the long run the spearhead isn't that helpful!

 

i used my spearhead just yesterday during SB, dropped multiple slow down mines on the MMO and then grabbed their cargo, using ulti cloak and emps you can get away with alot in that ship, they could not catch me or keep me locked, it was awesome, stole 154 spins from them in a few scores with all the ammo they were blowing thru on it and me i know i made a few very upset and still managed to get out of the map with only minor scratches to the paint

If you know how to use the spearhead it can really be effective

 

I got my Spearhead free along with an extra hangar from a Voucher. I haven't used it yet, but when I get round to collecting some palli it will be the ship I choose.

 

That 100k hp can be hugely increased with SHIP HULL I + II, HP boosters, drone formations (heart/moth) and a full set of hercs. Yes it's not going to be near a goli in hp but if you use it's speed to your advantage it is a viable hunting ship on it's own. 20 lf4 in drones make 50k+ x4 in this ship perfectly possible.

It's speed is it's main advantage aside from the abilities and all can be used offensively or defensively.
