No it does not mean, 'The Great Big #1 Server Question', it is about the server itself. This is not really a rant so to speak, but people may refer to this as one, and I have nothing against you people, it is simply my opinion. If there are others from the GB1 Server, or from servers that may relate - I have only played GB1, so I am not sure if this effected other servers, which I assume did happen - please what your answer would be. Now then targeting specifically for the GB1 Server.

Back then in the old Dark Orbit, I had an account. I started early in 2009, the backpage looked like crap compared to what it looks now. There were a different variety of ships to choose from. I can list many aspects of the game before it got a makeover, but the main difference from back then and now, the activity of the server. There was so many players who were online back in the old days, and there was real competition with one another. From there, raging players would argue on the forums to do this, and remove that. There would be players who tried to come up ideas that will only benefit themselves - still happens today - and thus created bot users. I think is may be the trigger that changed everything.

The Dark Orbit team all decided to throw new things into the game, and back then I was still a noob, not even basic FE. This just reminds me of a comment that someone made, I will not write the exact quote cause it might be removed but it basically said that the Basic FE was weak. Anyways, by the end of it, I quit because I was not able to maintain my stand with my account. When I quit, I was Basic FE lvl 17. Pilot Bio set to max on Shield Mechanics. The only thing that was new to me when I came back - in this new account; lost the old one - the only thing that was new was the CBS and modules.

All the above describes my experience with this game, what I was achieving and what I was capable of doing. Now , you look at this server, play a game of Spaceball, nobody participates. Nobody plays Invasion like in the olden days. Not a lot of people play the game like they used to anymore. So my question is, as a previous player, should I pay real money for the game? I have never done it before in my old account, but due to the lack of activity in the server, it concerns whether or not I should step up my game. It is pretty easy to become Basic FE since majority of these other players are UFE.

Well, that is all. Thanks in advance....

  2. Invasion sucks, Spaceball is boring, if you want to have fun and not farm for 2 years, spend a few thousand, that I wouldn't recommend though lol. Games dyin' though!

  3. Jumping on the bandwagon it would be good to see server mergers and/or be able to transfer accounts across servers (contrary to popular belief this can be done easily it's just time consuming). The only problem is what would happen with the users rank points (xp, honor etc) if they moved. If I moved from GE6 to GB1 today I'd be in the top 50 and most likely a colonel. However, at this point I would gladly have my xp and honor completely reset back down to zero (as long as I kept all my equipment and ammo) just to be able to move to a more active server. It's so boring and dead.

Yh they tried advertising the game but still no new players, only way to make server's active is server merging lmao otherwise this game will die lol

  5. I payed alot to this game... and now i have almost everything but upgrades i dont find a challenge, and frankly buying URI to buy ammo just so i can have fun for what? A week? Feels like a huge waste of my money as the game is not that enjoyable to play, these new events look boring as hell so i dont play them, or play much anymore. So my answer is no, dont bother... It is a sink, you gain nothing from spending money on here.

  6. Tbh I would hold off on any kind of major investment until things get sorted out. If
you do decide to spend a little get Premium, the occasional rebate pkg and maybe
a 50% off MHH. Thats probably as far as you wanna go as it takes 20+ million uri to
    become UFE.

  7. Server merging, just stop it, don't make me explain why this is a bad idea.

  8. please do

  9. These are past replies I've made on the subject. This is all copy and pasted and should be sufficient to stifle all of you and give other suggestions in place of server merges. Enjoy.

How about no, why you might ask, well the amount of things that could go wrong is through the roof, entire accounts could and probably would be lost, equipment and other things as well, even if they got all that right ranks would be destroyed, players that paid for ranks suddenly lose ranks.

One of my posts from another server merge thread:

I have to disagree with everything on this thread for so many reasons, server merging, I just don't like the idea, it would be a waste of time and they'd screw it up, piss off player, etc, besides that, ranks would get further ruined, what about event ranks as well. Server merging would only be a temporary fix to a growing problem, the game needs advertisement and change and new players.

A server merge would just cram players together and eventually those players would slowly quit, remaining players ask for more server merges, eventually 1 or 2 servers are left and no one players them, on the opposite end of the spectrum, if the game became lively again after a server merge, they'd have to remake servers. Some say server merges are impossible, I'm sure it's possible but would be worthless and would do more harm then good.

Lowering uridium prices only helps wallet warriors as well. More uridium would be bought if things costing uridium were cheaper and/or easier to attain. Where the hell did the idea for company alliances even come from, looking past the actual idea, if it was implemented, only high ranking players would have a say, no can do, for starters the general on my previously played server was a complete idiot, he sucked at the game, didn't speak the right language for the server, botted, cheated, shared his account, same thing with the chief colonel.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Server merges wouldn't be beneficial, some players have accounts on multiple servers, the simple fact remains that one day the servers would be over-crowded and they'd have to make more, it's pointless to merge servers then have to re-make one's you've deleted. The second idea is alright, the first seems pointless to me.

  10. I don't think you know how databases (the place where all user data is stored) works. Nothing would be lost if the DBA(s) knows what he's doing.

Yes this would need to be thought about. Obviously it depends on how many servers merge into 1; if it was just 2 servers merging this might not be a problem if they played around with the ranks (increased how many of each rank there are).

I'm not sure why they'd have any reason to quit now if the merge makes the servers more active.

Well then so be it. Hopefully they will only make more servers if the game becomes more "lively" after accurate forecasting (unlike what we have previously seen).

The multiple accounts thing wouldn't be a problem. Say GA2 and GA3 merge, and I have an account on GA2 - I can play it on the merged server no problem.

As much as I admire your optimism on the server just one day picking up and becoming much more active, I can't see it happening in the foreseeable future. Things like server mergers need to happen in order to make the current game more active and the current players happy.

Obviously, some servers might already be fine as they are (GA1 mainly), but before you complain about server mergers, try playing on the Global Europe servers then try to disagree that a merge would be a bad idea for them.

  11. Unless everyone kept their ranks, the ranks would be destroyed, even if that happened, RP's would be through the roof and their already bad enough. Other ranks would be messed up and jumbled together. I don't have much faith in BP to do any of this right. Don't forget if someone had an account on two servers that were to be merged, what would happen to one of the accounts, all the progress on it, money possibly put into it?

I could predict players quitting for a number of reasons from things going wrong with the server merges and said problems not being rectified to losing things on accounts or losing accounts entirely, again I don't think BP could do any of this right to begin with.

There's a number of other things BP could do besides server merging that would be more beneficial in the long run, especially financially. Unfortunately they're to stupid to try and make the game more active, do you think they'd attempt a server merge? That would hinder any remaining profits.

I've already made my point on the topic of two accounts and two servers to be merged and yes it would be a problem.

As I've said, there's better things that can be done to bring life back into the game.

I've played on USA East3 and tried hunting enemy maps to find a max of 5 players in all of uppers and lowers for an entire company.

  12. Guys you seem to forgot, what if both clans have a cbs on the same map? You just can'tmerge wwithout problems and it's a permanent idea to a temporary issue.

  13. I think that falls under ranks and similar issues, how would they carry over and be reset?

  14. especially these big clans who cube all day in the x-6 maps, thinking without their cbs they wouldnt even bother and quit altogether

  15. Boss have to agree. Besides I don't think DO even have faith they could handle this properly:oops: So don't think server merge would work.

    Hi-5 GB1 dude.
I started playing this game midway 2008, quit when the bots became a real nuisance.
I can relate to what you've said.
Indeed, back in those days (2008/2009) invasion was hustling with players. Spaceball was terrific. Maps were crowded to the extent, even doing lenient timed missions was difficult. At the same time, the game was fun. No-one would rant about 'my cube' et cetera.

As we look today. The most populated company would have barely 2 below FE players doing a single invasion gate. I'm a bit better than FE yet when I join in the gate for EIC, the scores surpass both VRU and MMO and with me are 1 if not 2, 2k hitting noobs. Spaceball isn't nearly as good as it was back then.

The server does occasionally get players online during prime time but for events, it's fallen to a level beyond repair.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend spending even a penny on this game. I never have yet I've got most of the top players on this server in my logs.
