The Great Merge

As a paying player I enjoy spending some spare change on the game from time to time, but with all the people that have left I get an uneasy feeling. If this whole reloaded campaign to bring back people does not pull through we face the possibility of this game disappearing. I do not know exactly how much revenue big point is losing now, but I know that it is no where near how much they were getting before. Now bare with me but I know I do not speak for myself when I say that USA East servers have become dead. And with the whole "Dark Orbit Reloaded" re-launch campaign I have not seen a good sign of any comeback or turnout from this new system to bring new and old players back. I know that other servers are not suffering as much as the American Servers but US East 1 in bad shape and as a player who has been here since 07' it saddens me to see the loss of friends in the game due to all the botting and cost of having to play the game. Now what I am proposing has some issues but can worked around hopefully if big point really is trying to listen to its players and if they are willing to do a little work on this idea. I am suggesting that BigPoint would consider to merge the USA East servers. And yes this may sound simple but there is much more then just merging servers. You have all of the ranks and and people who have achieved so much on these servers, the possibility of losing things in the merge is possible. You have all of the event rankings, titles, clans, players who no longer play, accounts that have been banned, as well as people who have ships on more then 1 of the east servers.

However with a merging of the servers we see that people who have left the main east server return to see friends from the old days. You have the same people constantly fighting the same people and it begins to get boring. Merging servers would not only make the american servers more active once more but would bring people back because their hard work on the other servers can now actually be used on a server with many people. It would not be anywhere near GA or GE but it would be better then what we have now. I do not know exactly how much it is costing BigPoint to have these servers open with hardly anyone playing but a merge would save money by closing the EAST 2 and 3 servers and bring them all into one main server. In a business perspective if you are not making enough money from each individual server there is no point in keeping it open if you are losing money because they loss of revenue begins to add up which is why now big point is trying to relaunch the game. My hope is that BigPoint at least consider some type of merge to revive a once crowded server or at least offer the option to move to another server. I hope that this thread can be noticed not only by the people who play the USA East servers but people who play other servers that are affected as well, like I stated earlier I know do not speak for my self when I talk about USA East 1 but I can not speak for those in other servers which have 7 or 5 servers. Imagine the numbers if all the servers that have 1,2,3,4,etc were to be merged. Please spread this thread around that we might get the attention of BigPoint Execs.

I have a bunch of servers in mind that I'd like to see getting merged. Right now I wish GB1 and GB2 would get merged because both of them feel really dead empty, but BP denies to merge them so meh.

But yes, merging of servers would surely bring back alot of players that have actually stopped on some server(s) or overall. Would be like a big re-union for some too.

I hope they'll get something going in the near future about this. Last merge I heard of was the Global Asia/Global America 4. Still got no clue what Asia has to do with America.

 

The GB2 is dead these days at least at the time of hour I play.
GA2 is full server but mainly Spanish players.
However the last 3 months I have seen a noticeable increase in English players returning to GA2.
I have a decent ship on East 3 but don't play there enough to comment on the conditions.

 

The issue with merging servers is that BP fears it will drastically increase lag, but at this point, I don't care lol. I'd like to see a big boost of ship numbers...speaking of which, if they ever merge them, they need to bring back the users online box while they're at it so we can actually see if the merge worked well.

need to think outside the box on this one. DO Reloaded, I'm still waiting on the
new players and still waiting for a reason to spend

 

It's not just about bringing people back in the game or bringing new people in it, but to make it less boring and add some life to all those dead servers with only 30-40 players online at all times. And about 5-10 in chat ._.

 

I am closing, as this suggestion has been raised numerous times, and we have been informed that merging servers is simply not a feasible option.
