The perfect solution on making DO popular again

    Hey all,
    All the old players know what it was like to play darkorbit a couple years ago. Servers were more active and everything was different. Im sure almost everyone will agree with me that Darkorbit was better when it was active. Many people have suggested that lf-4s or all the elite stuff should be removed. My opinion is that they should stay. We would lose players again if all their good stuff was removed.
    My idea is to get the new players hooked to the game with a small advantage and when they are hooked their advantage ends. Heres how my idea works:
    When a new player joins darkorbit, he will get an x3 damage bonus on every new map he goes to. This bouns works for 5 hours on every new map and as the clock is ticking down the x3 bonus is also getting smaller. When 5 hours is gone the dmg bonus is back to x1. This way the player will feel very powerful and get used to the new npcs on every map. NOTE: this bonus works only on own companies maps, but there could be a pvp tutorial where the new player could get 30mins of extra dmg.
    I also think that there should be notifications in the client like: great job! You collected 7,000 uridium until now. I suggest you collect a bit more and buy an lf-3 laser to get extra damage!

    Please Staff, consider forwarding this! It is everyones interest to get darkorbit active again.

    The encouraging log entries and tips and tricks served that way could be a great way to introduce new players in the more complicated game stuff.

    That part is solid, I reckon for every player who asks in chat what they should buy with x amount of uridium there will be 2 more who don't and so do not build up their account as efficiently as they could.

    As for the 5 hour damage bonus, I think giving a new player something then taking it away will make them a little bitter. A new player really doesn't do that much in 5 hours, they are still very much getting used to the game. By the time their bonus was up they might be feeling very lost without it.
    I've always believed that they should just flat out have more equipment when they start. So give them 10 LF-3 a few flax and a nostromo when they start, they are very, very far from ufe or even standard fe but the early hours of DO will still be a breeze for them as they get used to the game.

    If you're lazy or didn't get going right from thet start, then yes. Like me. I was totally lost at first and didn't know what to do. Didn't even ask in chat. So now I'm with 800+ hours and still at 2 gates.
     
  9. 180 hours for basic FE Aegis and level 8 pet with two level 3 gears and 1 gate done :), enough gloating, great idea, Okapi's suggestion make's it even better ^^.
