The reasons why I like the Darkorbit Community

Over the years. I have been a part of many communities. Each community is different. Each one have it's own problems. Each has it's own positive sides.

The darkorbit community is the most organized and most well mannered community I have ever been part of. The staff is well organized and well designed and trained. And the players respect them.

You do not see that every where. There are communities out there who flame their site leaders. And nothing is done about it. Pretty much the site leaders are being controlled by the members. If you do your job as a moderator or admin in these kinds of communities, you get told your abusing your powers. When you try to be nice and not show your powers. Then your considered useless.

Here, the staff does their job. The community does their feedbacks and are cooperative. The regular members do their best to help out the moderators in any way they can. And I bet the staff members have a great chain of command.

I also love how the site and game leaders keep their identities separate from the forums and game. It helps eliminate favoritism. I seen communities where "friends" is a crutch.

Even though I haven't been here that much. I do recognize these great qualities and this is why this community will always be my favorite.

But yes, just like any other forum or community, it has it's negative sides. The players can be helpful but they can also be negative. And I can see why. But they always make their threads about this sucks and that sucks. But that's normal for a video game site and I am not surprised.

 

Yes VintageAion our community has always been awesome. Whats left of it is the
main thing propping the game up atm. I wish the people in charge would recognize
this and start treating our community with a bit more respect.

 

All apart from one.
We have a mystery community manager who has never posted on the English forums. We used to have RickDekard, now we effectively have nobody - we don't even know the new persons forum username.
We were promised big community competitions and events, they never came after Rick left. In November it will be 1 year since the last roadmap.

Apart from the issue, on a whole I agree, the community is great, the EN section does tend to like to moan a little bit more than most but our mods have the best reputation. Whether the team knows it or not, people from other languages really want to talk to English support over the other support teams since ours have a reputation of being the most helpful.

 

Yes unpaid staff do great work here ..paid ones on other hand are nothing to write home about

 

Guys this is not a rant for paid paid staff or events or anything. I am recognizing the players and volunteer staff only. I don't really care about Big point or the game.

Yea. Since this community is so awesome. Thats why I keep coming back even though I don't play the game any more.

I for one appreciate the kind remarks. Very few things in any situation are perfect, yes the game has some issues we are still working on, and we do hope to see better communication in the near future between all levels of the game and the community. We are all people here at the end of the day that care for this great game and community, and regardless of ones position I think thats something we all share.

We do have our ups and downs as any community does, but we here on the mod team truly do want the best possible for everyone who enjoys the game, and do try our very best to provide this to the best of our abilities and within our powers to do so.

I see you moved up in the world of Darkorbit staff. Congrats on the promotion. I remember when you first joined team.

Everyone makes those mistakes. As I was told many times before. A community is only as strong as it's weakest link.

 

perhaps its the FACT that .. Great Effort is put into both the Game Chat and likewise Forum Discussion.. to Keep it Clean..

Nothing Pollutes the Mind and Heart than the Contemptuous utterances so Prevalent on many Chats Blogs and comments.. for this reason I feel relaxed to poke fun at the Mods / Players and those that post.. mostly in the attempt at being funny and Not harmful.. I enjoy conversing with People of all Nationalities and age groups, understanding another's perspective is NOT the same as being in Agreement or taking Sides..

Communication is just the Exchanging of Ideas and the Expression of Thought, though various means, whether it is with the Mouth, eyes, Body Language, written form or the Exchange of liquids via Water bottles, wineskins or Glass bottles.
after all some of us are Still Human, and those that Dedicate their Free Time to Maintain the Community are to be Respected for their Contribution.. they DO it because they Want To..

 

I just wanted to acknowledge that the mods really do seem to be much more helpful and supportive and wayyy more respectful to players these days than what we experienced in the past. Not kissing up just stating the facts as I see them. They certainly hear about it when players are unhappy with them so it seems only right to say something positive when appropriate too.

On another subject entirely, I hate that my forum status has been reduced to "forum greenhorn". Ugh.

 

Yeah agree. I've been in other forums but Dark Orbit's forum is such warm , such respectful , moderators doing their job good and more reasons to say DO Forum is awesome.

But a Non-DO Off topic talking thread maybe rock this forums :3
