A while back there was a change to the cloaking chip, and I think it turned out that if you didn't have the cloaking chip on both configurations, you would only be cloaked on the config with the chip.

When you switched to the non-cloak config, you would become visible, and when you switched back you would become cloaked again. At least, that's how it's been working for me.

Today I depleted one chip, and reequipped with a new chip:

Config 1 has no cloak chip
Config 2 I replaced the expired chip with a new one

Now, I'm back to being cloaked on both configurations regardless of whether I have a chip on the other config. (Which is how it used to work.)

Can someone clarify how it's supposed to be? Was it a bug before, or is it a bug now? I really had gotten used to being able to use the same cloak and flip it off and on depending on config.

    Thanks

  2. Hmm I have equipped 2 different cloaking chips on each of the 2 configs. I activated cloak on config 1 and then I switched into config 2 and I became visible. I switched again to config 1 and I became invisible again. I can interchange between a cloak config 1 which is my speed mode and change to my config 2 which is my attack mode and travel to maps and switch back to config 1 cloaked without spending another cloak credits. I haven't try yet to change/replace the chips.

The cloaking CPU will only work on the config it is installed to in theory, if you are cloaked and change config and there is no cloak CPU you will become visible as soon as you move your ship and if you change config back you will find that the cloak as been expended. If you remain stationary and do not move your ship when changing from a cloaked config to an uncloaked config you will find that the cloak will remain and if you do not move your ship and change back to the cloaked config the cloak will stay intact as long as you have not opened fire. I find it far better to put my CPU on both configs to avoid any mistakes when changing configs.

  4. I have always used my cloaks as USS-Aries has described but recently I have had a couple comment in-game from other players that what veritas has described...
Maybe we can have some clarification as to if there was a bug and it has now gone or what...

  5. I have not used a cloak for a while but I always had one CPU on one config and was able to be cloaked no matter what config I was on. This goes back to the ONE USE cloak that you get from AUCTION as it cloaks the ship until you fire or get hit an emp mine. However with all of the glitches they have created and not fixed I can see this as being another one that has been exploited without anyone reporting as they thought it was normal.

That would be nice. I'm confused about it now.

What •»Radiance«• agreed with is how it had been for a while now, up until I put the new chip on, and now it has changed back to more what it used to be. (In addition, it is also now cloaking all my ships - if I activate a cloak on one ship, no matter which ship I go to it has a cloak on it also even if it's stripped of everything else and has no cloak chip at all. That is also how it used to work, some time back, but it hasn't been that way for a while now, until the other day.)

I much prefer the two config cloak on/cloak off; I thought it was an improvement to the game, a pleasant surprise.

Either way, I'd like to know what's up with it - if it's working now how it should be, or what happened. Just looking for consistency and wondering what the actual behavior is meant to be.
(And also to register my preference for the two config cloak on/cloak off. If indeed it was a mistake, it actually made logical sense and enhanced gameplay for me.)

move the chip from the 10 Quick key, to the bar of the config you wish to be cloaked. I hope that works
