[TI] Auction page reload time

Hi forum peeps
It's just gone 9:10 on Sunday morning, and, yet again, the auction page stopped responding and I wasted time on this badly put together piece of code rather than doing something fun and enjoyable.
I'm sure you must be familiar with this gripe by now. Please oh please fix the auction page issue.
Hell, no, actually, completely rewrite the stupid thing pleeease lol.

It's the same old clunky problem. During load phase, you get 'has stopped responding' or 'script busy' messages. means you can maybe submit 1 bid every 30 seconds, and an auction with a time limit like that put on it is not an auction at all. I'm not sure what it is tbh. This morning I placed a bid with 2 mins 30 secs to go. I was outbid (fair enuff - try again...), but the page stopped responding on re-load. There was 9 seconds left on the auction when it finally reloaded ( 2 minutes 21 seconds it took )

Seriously? Oh yes lol.
Even if the rest of the backpage is functioning well, the auction always - always, is giving issues.
This was meant to be the super duper new style next big thing for this page. DO have had numerous complaints about it. Scrap it please. You could even just do it on the sly. I don't care.
Using it is a nightmare now.

It is now 20 minutes since I logged on to the game. I have done nothing at all but try and deal with code problems. I might log on to client. I might not. Bit fed up by now lol.

Just wanted to highlight this issue and push it a bit.

I apologize in the delay in responding to your thread.

I personally have not experienced such long delays when reloading the auction, may i ask whether you have experienced this issue recently? Or was this an isolated incident?

WOW Whole month later. I don't have it that bad but have seen bids take like 30 seconds before to go through and you are right, that page reload can be horrible...

I realize you are having an issue with the auction page and by no means are we trying to disregard your issue. However can we ask a question to help us investigate the matter further.

What type of internet connection do you use? Direct Cable Connection, WiFi, DSL, Phone connection or open source (public service) internet.

Hi Ddraig, Hi Astraea, how are you both? Thanks so much for your interest and apologies for my delay in responding - it has been one of those weeks. I do appreciate your taking the time to reply to my query.

In response to your questions - Ddraig, no this is not an isolated incident, but ongoing, since the new auction update was brought in.
- Astraea, I am on WiFi, and have been for a couple years now.

I would like to provide you with more information, but don't know where to start... sorry. Might it be a Firefox / jre problem? I can look into this, maybe try some fresh re-installs.

UPDATE:

Tonight's attempt at auction bidding went a lot smoother than previously. Reload time was well within norms. I will report back after further attempts

I am glad to hear that auction times for you appear to be moving smoother. As you mentioned you are using a WiFi connection, I would like to mention... sometimes WiFi connections have an issue that experiences more of a buffering between the wireless router signal. So this may take an extra few seconds. At that point there is actually nothing we here in forums can do to speed that up for you but suggest you get a cabled connection.

I would tend to concur with your view that this problem may be exacerbated by being on WiFi ( a shared one at that ). I have a hardline connection lined up and will fit it in the next few days. Fingers crossed lol.
The last few auctions appear to have run a bit smoother, and with my hardline I expect things to get a bit better still.

Thanks so much for your time and suggestions regarding this problem, I may have been mistaken in assuming that the code behind is 'clunky', although, I would hope that other players experiencing this difficulty see some improvement in their own particular latency issues.

I hope this finds you well, and would like this opportunity to thank all the forums team for their continued dedication and hard work.
