[TI] Box doubler in ToT

Sometimes the box doubler doesn't work in the Tunnel of Terror.

This happened when killing the demon drone and picking up the box it drops.

Clan member had same issue but with an ammo box.
The P.E.T Protocol and pilot bio bonuses will be applied but the box doubler won't, not sure what causes it. Both of us used our pets to pick up the boxes.

For me sometimes even the PET Protocols doesn't apply.

 

same for me to. my salvages seem to work today but the doubler isnt .. i didnt do the gate yesterday, but compared to monday, the collections are now halved.

 

IamJarska is right....if you read FAQ on protocols, its clearly mentioned there.

"With the salvage protocol installed you can increase the amount collected from cargo and bonus boxes. It has a random bonus chance of "malfunctioning" and giving a 10% increase instead of the percentage dictated by the level of the protocol."

As you are correct the Salvage protocol does read:

I am sorry if there was any misunderstanding where this particular protocol is concerned.

Now looking at the post I see OP is more concerned with box doubler not working. That shouldnt happen. Box doubler should work no matter what. Problem is since rewards/ammo are not fixed, we will never know if box doubler worked or not. I hope Astraea will clarlfy this for us. Thanks in advance

 

where dose it say that about the pet protos? .. and on top of that bonus box doubler should work 100% on its own so that would be 2 silver bat.. so that mean the box doubler it not working properly 2 ast

 

Yeah the issue is with the box doubler just flat out not working randomly in ToT - I only mentioned protocols in the first post because when a clan mate had the exact same issue his protocols were applied to the ammo box he received but not his doubler.
I was just trying to provide a little bit more info on the issue, about what was being applied to the drop and what wasn't.

I encountered the same issue with the box doubler just not working in ToT, except mine was with the drone box, hence why I got just 1 Silver Bat, even though I should have got a minimum of 2 with box doubler.

 

Very strange, I made around 6 ToT til now and I always got 3 ( I let my Pet collect )

Interesting you mention that, I've been doing TOT everyday its available, with max protocols, tractor beam and box doubler. So far I have not witnessed any failings in either the protocols or the doubler?! Maybe my luck is extremely good or perhaps something else is going on? Has the doubler failed on any of the ammo boxes?! Because if you're anything like me, cosmetic drone designs are definitely not needed (Got wayyyy too many now).
Just thought I would add in my experience to the discussion.

 

The box doubler is for the little shiny boxes, it doesn't double Cargo drops from the NPC in that gate.

The doubler is meant to work for both the drone drops by demon drone and the ammo boxes dropped by the specific NPC during the gate. I don't even have cargo boxes turned on ...

As I mentioned in the very first post, randomly the doubler did not work on the drone drop for me, the log is provided as showing 1 Silver Bat. There should be a minimum of 2 Silver Bats due to doubler, 3 when the protocols and pilot bio are also applied - which I also posted as proof that doubler is applied to the drone drops normally.

You are more than welcome to log onto the account with the UserID in the first post and check.

Clearly the box doubler wasn't applied to the first drop for some reason.


Just to prove I didn't buy the doubler half way through the gate, on page 11 of of log book - yet another set of 3 Silver Bat:



I'm not asking for compensation or anything like that, it was just 2 cosmetic designs I'm probably never going to use - but the same issue also happened to a clan member when he was picking up an ammo box.

Since nobody else had made a thread about doubler randomly not working in ToT I thought it was worth making one about it. Luckily given the replies it seems to be very rare.

 

RARE it may be but it is just like everything else in the game, it is a CHANCE it works or not. Do we spend money for a CHANCE or is the money spent supposed to be for a specific item? Only D O is able to not deliver the goods or services as advertised without repercussions.
