[TI] Gate Jump Lag?

    Anyone else experiencing lag when jumping gates? It takes 5 seconds or more to materialize on the other side today and I've been getting shot before I materialize in the client when jumping into bmaps.

    My pet also appears as though it's 5 or more ship lengths in front of me then a lag spike occurs and we're at the same speed again.

    Ah this sounds like some classic latency / ping issues to me, especially the pet part. Basically what is happening is there is a significant delay between your information being sent to the DO servers and the information from DO reaching you. So with the pet the game will be thinking your ship is in a different location to what it is on your screen, so where you pet is, that is where your ship will appear to be for everyone else.

    One thing you can try is just resetting your router and see if that makes any difference.

    The annoying thing about ping is that you can do a test online and everything can seem fine, then a few minutes later it will be terrible again and can vary a lot. The other annoying thing about ping is sometimes it can be specific issue between your ISP and the servers it uses and the servers that BP is using. So you might get zero ping issues in one game, then hop onto DarkOrbit and find that there's an issue. Normally there's nothing DO can do about ping issues if it's just a few isolated cases, it will be down to the ISP more than anything.

    Just out of curiosity, is this a new problem that is constantly happening to you, or does it come and go?
