  1. Hello everyone,

I have the following issue with flash player/google chrome/memory usage-->

Two weeks ago without thinking i installed Google Chrome on top of my existing Google Chrome. Before i did that when i was logging in game (clearing cache & flash player temperorary files before every log in), i was always starting with 150-175 mgb memory used and had almost flawless 60-61 fps. The memory was going up steadily (not in big jumps), which is normal.

After i made this mistake of installing new Google Chrome on top of the existing one the following happened: when i log in game, i start with above 200 mgb memory used and have lower performance in terms of FPS. The memory is going up in big jumps.

Decided to make a fresh installation of Windows and make sure i get rid of whatever i have done. Unfortunatelly this did not resolved the problem.

I want to ephasize on the moment where the problem started : when i installed Google Chrome on top of the existing one

Decided to make a post in the forums, in case someone had the same problem in the past and knows whats the cause and solution to this. Any help is apreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

    Best Regards,

  2. The NEW Chrome has a lot more settings that can be changed and adjusted which is part of the problem and it also no longer uses Flash as a plug-in but is actually part of the browser. Unless you set it to clear all history every time you close it you are not clearing the cache unless clearing browser history before entering D O.

I am not techy but this may be part of your issue.

  3. This is issue will be down to Google Chrome itself and the flash player which is bundled within Chrome. Over the last few weeks I have noticed a RAM usage increase and a FPS drop of which you also speak of, with this, after trying many command line switches and messing with the flags within chrome, I have not yet been able to reduce the problems which of arisen.

On this, I reccommend a different browser which does NOT use PPAPI flash player or any chromium based coding. Please try Mozilla (PaleMoon 32bit or 64bit depending on your needs is my current recommendation) based browsers which use Adobe Flash Player and not PepperFlash which is hard coded into Chrome.

Ever since Google Chrome blocked all support of NPAPI plugins such as Adobe Flash Player last year, the browser has decreased in popularity due to its pathetic excuse of a flash player alternative.

  4. Hello HelpMeHelpYou & ŁÁĞÏ™,

I just want to note again that this problem occured only when i installed Google Chrome on top of the existing one. Strange thing is that after i formated my hard disk and reinstalled Windows the issue still exists. Thank you both for your inputs. Since Google Chrome updates automatically i can assume that both times i had the same version of it. In regard to the PaleMoon browser, I tried it and can tell that Google Chrome is miles better then it. Will be good if someone from the moderator's team can advise what i can do and whether someone from the technical department of BP can help with this.

    Thank you,

    Best Regards

  5. In regards to "miles better", did you download/update Adobe Flash Player when using Palemoon, as you would need to install Adobe Flash Player, as like I say, Chrome uses it's own PepperFlash. If Palemoon browser ends up not being your cup of tea, you can always do what I do and try multiple browsers until you find one which suits your system, as every system is different and acts differently and performs in different ways.

If your system is quite modern and allows alot of tweaking, you may want to research RAM timings which can be changed in the BIOS. This, from my experience, boosts flash player performance.

Also, can you post your system specs for me plz, thanks.

  6. Hello ŁÁĞÏ™,

Yes Adobe Flash Player is updated for my other browsers including Palemoon. I don't know why, but Google Chrome performs completely differently then any other browser. My system specs are the following:

    Processor: Intel Core i3-4160 @ 3.60 GHz
    Video Card: GeForce GT 610 - 2gb
Operating System: Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    Memory: 8gb

I hope this is enough information, please let me know if you need anything additional.

What bothers me is that it happened after this installation of Google Chrome on top of the existing one. Automatically you would think that if you completely remove the software from your system and reinstall it, it should be bk to it normal state and to operate as before. I am pretty much confused and have no clue why the issue still exists. The problem should not be my system specs, since it was working flawlessly before that.

Thank you once again for your attention ŁÁĞÏ™.

    Best Regards,

  7. Stupid thought but did you save a "reset config" before doing the installation of Chrome on top of the other? You might take a look at the system files currently then do the reset and see what has changed. Sounds like a dll file has been corrupted or something like that.

  8. Ok thank you.

Please can you load up Google Chrome and goto chrome://flags and please tell if this shows Enable or Disable:

This should be located as the first option at the top of the page, if not, can you please use the Chrome "find" function to locate it.

Did this problem begin after you did an update of Google Chrome, or did it just randomly start happening without an update.

  9. ŁÁĞÏ™ it shows Enable. I assume its not turned on.

The problem started after i installed/not updated Google Chrome on top of the existing one. After which i formatted my hard disk and reinstalled the operating system.

HelpMeHelpYou I don't know where to look. Need more help.

    Regards,

  10. Thanks for the reply.

Can you enable it please, as this will force the GPU to do more work, instead of the software built into chrome.

So when you say "Installed on top of the Chrome", you mean you downloaded chrome AGAIN from the Chrome download site and installed like you would the first time. If so, downloading Chrome from the download site and continuing to install, is basically updating your current install of Chrome, as base code and the main components of chrome are overwritten by the installer, thus then updating itself.

If you have formatted your drive and reinstalled windows, and reinstalled Chrome again directly from the Google Chrome download page, then it could be an issue with the latest version of chrome, chrome is modified alot between versions, and they continuously tweak the code. I can only suspect in the latest version, they have changed something of which your system is finding a bit "eh".

Can you also verify your Nvidia drivers are up to date please.

  11. ŁÁĞÏ™ may be able to help more but it is in the Control Panel under Recovery. If the reload of the OS did not remove these you should be able to see the software updates as dates that you can select to recover. I have 2 actual restore points for my computer during the last month as I added some Anti Virus programs during this time.

DarkOrbit is focusing more to the [IT] side of interfacing .... Heck my Samsung Galaxy using the Dolphin browser works better than my Acer Chromebook CB3-531 .... * go figure* and the both of them are 6 months old. Buy the time you try all the tweaking and installation as alleged options you'll become more agitated because DarkOrbit will have modified their end . I don't play this game where I have to reconfigure my CPU to fit their agenda . The bottom line is if the website that is using Flash Player is being phased out for the new HTML5 ....

  13. Just a suggestion..

Perhaps you can install an older version of Chrome? My Chrome browser still works fine for Dark Orbit, only because I have not updated the browser this year.

Is this possible? I dunno

Thank you all for assisting this player with their issue.

I am not a computer Tech, but if you had to reinstall the Operating system... This should have cleared out all existing data and you would have had to download google chrome again, since it is not part of the windows operating system like the browser data for Internet Explorer.

There are website out there that have downloads for the older versions of chrome. which may work better with your computer specs.
Does the OP have any further questions on this topic?

    Have a nice day

  15. Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for your inputs.

ŁÁĞÏ™ Thank you very much for your help. This feature in the flags section of Chrome is defenitely worth trying for everyone who has slight performance drawbacks. At the moment it is visible that the cpu/gpu are trying harder to keep on 60-61 fps. Unfortunatelly i see other issues, for example when i click "tab" the screen freezes for a second ( this happens only after the memory usage is in its limit above 400-500 mgb). There are more sudden fps drops then before, but in general it has defenitely provided a boost to the performance. Not sure if i make sence, but i hope so.

I will try to find the google chrome version i was using before the issue happened. Does anyone have an idea where i can check all the updates(versions) Chrome has implemented in the past. I will test this tonight, because to me the way the issue happened seems like its only comming from the current version of Chrome.

Overall, the issue is still there - fast and big jumps in the memory usage ( requires more frequent relogs) and droppage in the FPS.

Before this happened, even in major events like space ball i had stable FPS like 35-45 (15-20 people around me). Pretty much it was working flawlessly, regardless of the intensity of the graphics etc.

Please, if possible the moderators to keep the thread open in case we find a fix.

    Regards,

    Hello everyone,

Update in regard to the past Google Chrome Versions (Stable Versions for desktop):

    52.0.2743.116 - Wednesday, August 3, 2016
    52.0.2743.82 - Wednesday, July 20, 2016

Unfortuanatelly i can not find on the web where to download the exact same version from Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Which i believe will be the best option, since the issue happened at the begining of August - Week 1.

    What i found is this version: 51.0.2704.84 - Monday, June 6, 2016

I will test it tonight when i get back from work and will inform you.

    Regards,

  16. There are a few more features in the Flags section of which we can try in hopes that a solution may be found for your problem.

Please let me know if you would like to go ahead with some of the other features of which I know could help. None of which will harm your system or your browser.

  17. You might want to create a thread where it addresses all of these and why the changes are suggested, what they will do for you. It might even be pinned to be at the top of the forum page where it is posted for future reference.

on my Chromebook ... chrome://flags it comes with the following notice :

  19. Hello everyone,

Yestarday i tried the 51.0.2704.84 version from Monday, June 6, 2016. It was not an executable file, just the folder with the installed chrome in a zip file. While it seemed like the version i was using before the issue happened, the memery usage problem was still there. I just can not make anymore the game to start with 150-175 mgb and then go gradually up. I believe this is crucial for the performance of the game, the memory usage. I am not sure if we can get to the bottom of what has happened. Those big jumps in the memory usage are making the CPU/GPU struggle and thats why not only me probably are experiencing performance issues.

ŁÁĞÏ™ let's explore and use your knowledge to what Chrome has to offer. I will be the test dummy.

    Regards,

  20. Features used or changed to increase FPS or Chrome's performance don't harm anything, changing features of which effect the use of data and privacy will of course cause problems. In this case, we will be changing settings which will determine any change in performance of FPS in games. So no need to worry.

In regards to your request, i will compile a small list of settings which can be changed in order to possibly fix or find a solution to your problem.

Please bare with me of course, and Forum Mods, please do not close this thread, as I will need some time to complete the task, as I working nights, so please bare with me, thank you.
