I've noticed I can't get a left click mouse lock, about 90% of the time unless they are stopped?
PVP or NPC doesn't matter, I always wondered why I got killed so much, now I finally understand
I believe what is happening is if something is in motion, the lock circle is so small, that when I click the mouse directly over the opponent, due to lag they are not there any more, so no lock.
I have left clicked directly over a Strenner R as many 7 or 8 times and no lock.
During PVP attacks, sometimes I can never get a lock, unless they slow down or stop.
    Does this make sense?
There are a lot of weapons in the arsenal, to combat getting get killed during PVP attacks but none work if you don't have a lock on your opponent. I consider myself cannon fodder, and not much more.
If I can't out run my opponent then I die, that really takes the fun out of this game for me.

  2. while you are on the game screen hit the "F" key and it will tell you your FPS. if it is low then it is lag.

60~ FPS is the best this game supports I think, however 30 isnt exactly end of the world.

There are typically two types of lag, low frame rate, this is when the game looks choppy and nothing feels smooth or quick. This is normally down to a PC's hardware.
The second type would be latency / ping (not shown in the game), this is where everything can feel smooth but if you do something like press C to change config, it takes a few second for the command to actually reach the server and for your ship's config to change. This could either but down to an issue with the server or more likely just a hiccup with your internet connection. No connection is completely stable 100% of the time.

Initially your problem sounds like a latency / ping one, the best way to tell this would be to get your pet out and just click on it when it is completely still. If the lock appears instantly then you have no issue, if it takes short time to appear, then there is a issue with your ping to the DO servers. Again it's important to note, if there is an issue with your internet not being completely stable then you might test it once and everything seems fine, but then a hour later it could be poor.

Low FPS could definitely have a negative effect on locking moving targets, but 30 really isn't that low. I would say try turning down the graphics settings a bit for better FPS performance and see if that helps with the issue.

Thanks for all the input this at least gives me a possible reason for me to believe I'm not the games worst player.
It might be I just don't have enough computer or internet, to be successful.
Gave all the advise a try didn't seem to change for the better, so I still where I was for game play, my problem, but again thanks all.

You can close this when you want.

  7. mine is usually at 35-45, and I get some pretty good game performance. so 30 shouldn't be all that bad
