  1. Normally, one enters the pirate maps and to eventually exit, needs to traverse all three maps to get to their company's exit portal. Once there the player has the options of staying in the 4-4 map and fighting npc/player encounters, or going to their respective x-5 map, or heading to the portals and jumping into a 4-x map, etc...

While taking a break from popping barracudas, I entered Refractions from the 5-1 pirate map. Then I exited and was re-materialized back in the 1-1 map.

This may have been design intent or it could be a 'minor?' bug. If the jump chips do not allow a hasty retreat out of the pirate area, this alternate departure sequence could be abused provided the player is not otherwise engaged in battle.

exiting the Refraction map it auto returns a player to their x-i base.

  3. Its designed that way. Explain why you think it could be abused though. Many players would just log out and log into a ship that is not in pirates in order to leave the area anyways so I am interested in your answer.

  4. Why bother with logging off the client screen and activating another ship while leaving the first ship tagged in pirate maps?
It costs nothing to enter or leave reflections, and seems to be as fast as wading through one or two more pirate maps.
To counter, why would design originally make exiting pirate maps a manual affair as opposed to a jump in/out sequence; if they wanted folks to go through all three maps, they should block the Reflections exit as well.

so your solution of [ block the Reflections exit ] would be ? .... having the ability to leave a ship stashed in/on the Refraction Server ? you know that bird won't fly there is a player and data cap. Wouldn't want a server crash. I can see it now a couple of hundred users trying to all login at once on the Refraction server to stake claim to which server is the best ,bragging rights , ''Server Wars'' while there may be a hundred or so already there.Trying to recoup all that data from across all servers is pointless .
Or , when exiting the Refraction Server it auto returns you to the map you came from ? To easy , There should be a ''toll'' for that to happen .
Another alternative exit is: if a user chooses to exit back to the map they came from, a jump gate located at another location would be needed. You must get to that location for that to happen . Heck I enjoyed ''Gate Wars'' in order to get to where I wanted to go. I could see three gates . Any player EIC , VRU and MMO must get to their perspective company portal . From there that user would be returned to their perspective server and last exact location on the server but a ''toll'' should be paid for that action as well. What would be your thoughts?

Once you have logged out of the map and changed ship, you can ship warp the ship that was in Pirate maps to where you are now. I do miss the days before advanced jump chip though, before you could lay in wait on a route an enemy needs to take but now the enemy just jumps to the map they want to... Of course just the whole needing to travel through maps to get to where want brought activity/action while there would be none otherwise like now on many maps. (which of course I think is a bad thing, there is no such thing as needing help to travel through maps due to enemy ambushes now...)

I think at the very least you shouldn't be able to use the advanced jump chip to jump to enemy maps, so then it wouldn't just be as simple as turning up on the enemies territory unattested/enemy unaware at all. Though this thread isn't exactly about advanced jump chip so I'll end my thoughts there. (though it's not totally irrelevant to the thread, you don't need to travel through ports to get where want now except Pirate maps but I don't really see why BP would bother with preventing people from using other methods to get out of the maps. They don't seem to care about people doing that in enemy maps after all so easily)

  7. Oh, well, I am glad that ship warping is able to be used that way by you (and probably a lot of others). I have tried the warp a couple of times and can only go to a ship from where I parked it, would never just show up on a different map.

As far as the jump chip, I was one of those in favour of that technology. Mainly due to constant ambush by players that seemed to have all the time in the world to sit near a travel route and jump the ships going by. With the way Refractions is going, maybe the change is to allow jumps without chips or gates, to whatever map a pilot wants.... a ship driven jump... hmmm....
