[TI] Questions about the merges

Back on Jul 11, 2018 it was posted that GB2 was merging with GE5.
That merge seemed to go smoothly.
I could switch over to my GB2 account with no problem.
Logins and chat were working as before and continued to do so until Monday (approximately 9am EST/2pm GMT or UT) August 6th, 2018.

Then there was the pop-up message that aliens every where were trying to take over the server.
At 3:30pm EST/8:30pm GMT or UT) on Tuesday, August 8, 2018 the same error was appearing.

Neither day has shown any indication as to what was going on.
I even tried going to the GE5 server, but it shows the same message as GB2.
I do recall that GB1 was to merge with GE5, but I was not anticipating any problems with GB2 as it had maintained connectivity even though it was supposed to be on GE5.
I have scrolled through the forums looking for some sign that this is a known issue and have not been able to find a reference to the problem or the possible actions to take to get access returned.

My GB2 account should be showing as active as I am in there 6 of 7 days a week.

Is there some 'catch-up' activity that has impacted the server(s) in question?
Once the resolution has been determined, will I be logging to GB2 or GE5 ?
When are the correct server identifications going to be used for accounts that are and were merged?

 

Some good questions. I too noticed GB2 is down and assumed it is either because ships from GB2 were moved to GE5 (hence it's "empty"), or it is acting as a relay to the accounts moved to GE5, but since GB5 is currently down due to a merge with GB1, no relaying is not possible.

So, that basically means you are missing big on a daily login bonuses.

 

They should have been smart and merged ALL servers at the same time. I know they have a list of their planned mergers, even if they don't want it to be public YET, but instead of making a server (like GB2) be down several times as other servers are merged into the one final server. I only play USA servers so I do not know how many GB servers there are but I am assuming they are all going to become GE5, so unfortunately you will feel the down time for each of the subsequent mergers into GE5 (even though you play GB2).

Actually since it is only 2 days and they do not seem to mess with the same server twice in a month you should be able to collect the 25 bonuses.

 

Well there is that point. Only GB1 and GB2 that went into merge... but that was to GE5. So anything else being merged to GE5 will cause any previous merged servers to 'stall out' for the two days.
I guess I better just get ready for mass outages when the GA servers start going through a consolidation as well as the US East servers.

I had hoped, just before the merges started, that the accounts merged would be only available on the destination server and not left hanging due to some inactive accounts that could not be transported over.

I do understand that the test merges needed to be done, but, yes, once it was found to be smooth, do a mass merge and have the servers down for a straight 4 day interval.... get it over with and we'd be just mopping up a few minor spills...
