First off, I'm not 100% sure this could count as a bug but I think it's worth pointing out. The higher your screen resolution the worse 'Texture Filtering' becomes on the 3D graphics settings.

The highest quality option makes the ship and NPC models appear worse than the average setting.

These images were taken on a standard 1920x1080 screen, so not exact a huge screen. Yet the difference in graphics quality is pretty big.

I used the Saturn and zoomed in simply because it shows of the difference the best with all the small rectangles it has on the texturing.

    High setting:

The high setting is filtering textures to a higher degree but the average actually makes the game look better, at least on a 1920x1080 screen, I can only presume it has the same effect on even greater resolutions.

I guess the problem would be that people assign the setting to high thinking it will make their ship look the best it can be. If there was some sort of notification telling people that was not the guaranteed to be the case then it could also help with the issue a lot of people have with ships looking too 'cartoonish'.

Looks like a classic case of low res textures possibly a 512 x 512 texture map, because DO is a web browser game high res mapping could cause a lot of lag.
