[TI] The Infinite Range

hello guys as some of us might be experiencing
there is a little bug or a server problem that makes people able to shoot you through gates ore even half across the map i was just wondering if I'm the only one having this problem or if there's others having the same problem?

 

Other playas have been in my GG, but didn't shoot each other

Yea had this problem.Most of the time was because of lag , but happened to saw an eic in my Zeta GG which was kind of funny ,lol!

 

It actually happens to me a lot.. In normal maps players who are stronger just shoot me even out of my screen border and kill me..

It has nothing to do with screen resolution, because i have 1366x768, it is an actual bug or a glitch..

 

You know I used to argue that screen resolution also, I am thinking as late a month ago, but lately I have changed my resolution in Chrome so I can see more and I see you can only shoot from so far away. Resolution is not the issue. From far out they can lock you though, I have proven it just for myself but you still have to be in "range" in order to actually shoot your target.

Lag is the big issue here.

There has never been such a hack and there will never be. Cases like that are only caused by lag. You can still move your ship even though the commands does not go to DarkOrbit server. So while your screen says you are in middle of the map, in reality you are still in portal and the guy who shoots at you sees you right next to him.

I would have to agree with the latter posts in this thread, that severe lag would most likely be the explanation for this. The game has a finite range at which you can shoot a player or NPC, and this range cannot be broken. However, what can cause problems is the information being sent and received from your computer to the darkorbit servers, with Darkomaani. giving a good example of this. This can even apply to bigger screens/resolutions, as at the end of the day, the range at which you can be shot does not change. It is just that the position of the ship on your screen isn't in the exact same position on the darkorbit server (hence it appears somebody is shooting you out of range or off screen).

It's understandable that this could cause you some frustration. Please bear in mind however that other factors such as lag or outdated flash can also cause similar problems. I would also suggest to try clearing your browser history and to check you have the latest version of Flashplayer installed. but i doubt its any of that my download speed is 400 mb and my upload on wifi is 120 mb and my pc was built for hardcore gaming im allways at 61 fps but not a cc im at 50 something ive had no lag what so ever but maybe its my connection to the server

 

this is a commonly used hack, hopefully it will get fixed soon
