    The in-game info shows the maximum non-boosted speed of Leonov on home maps as 440. Exactly the same info is shown in the hangar when the ship is activated. So it's simple: 380 base speed plus 6xG3N7900 equals 440.
    For the comparison, a Piranha has base speed of 360 (on all maps) and with 8 generator slots its maximum speed is 360 + 8x10 = 440.
    Again, a Nostromo with base speed of 340 and 10 generator slots reaches exactly the same speed.

    And now comes the problem. When Nostromo or Piranha is boosted with promerium, in-game info window shows current speed as 528, which is correct; 440x1.2 equals 528. But, despite having the same base speed, Leonov's boosted speed is shown as 524.

    Where is the missing 4? Is this a visual bug/glitch or the speed is lowered down for Leonov?
    It would be logical that it is just a visual bug, but there are some tutorials for newbies that adapted this speed, hence the doubt.
    Since there is no real reason that all three mentioned ships with the same base speed would have different boosted speed, I think this is a bug and would appreciate if someone can look into it and clarify the discrepancy.

    Thanks in advance.

    PS: My timing experiments are not accurate enough for the conclusion due to different load of server(s), changing ping rate, etc. and a small difference in speed.

    I',m still waiting a reply to this very simple question... for about 45 days (and counting).

    Hi bisphenol,

    Apologies for the wait on getting a response to this.

    The reason that the leonov has the speed of 524 is due to the way in which the speed of the leonov is calculated by the game. The calculation made by the game is:

    Speed = (Non-Bonus Base Speed + Speed Generators) * (Boost from ore) + (leonov bonus if applicable)

    Example 1: Equipped leonov in lower maps

    Speed = (360 + 60) * 1.2 + 20 = 524

    Example 2: Equipped leonov outside upper maps

    Speed = (360 + 60) * 1.2 = 504

    I hope i was able to clarify this for you.

    leos used to be same speed as goli in the lowers, now mine goes 440 max. leos is useless in lowers now because everyone can outrun you, yet DO still cant fess up to changing it

    Hello Ddraig,
    This is the explanation but was it that way all the time or was it introduced recently? Because it looks like the Leonov was nerfed down. The Leonov bonus is not under the amplification of the ore for the speed. What about ore amplification for laser and rocket damage?

    The way speed calculation would be logical and straightforward is:
    Speed = (Non-Bonus Base Speed + Leonov Home Maps Bonus + Speed Gens) * Ore Boost

    Hence equipped Leonov in lower maps:
    Speed = (360 + 20 + 60) * 1.2 = 528

    And equipped Leonov outside lower maps:
    Speed = (360 + 0 + 60) * 1.2 = 504

    Now if similar is true than I'm afraid damage of laser and rockets is calculated as:
    Damage = Base Damage * Ore Boost + Leonov Home Maps Damage Bonus

    instead of:
    Damage = (Base Damage + Leonov Home Maps Damage Bonus) * Ore Boost

    Can you please look at the Leonov damage as well and confirm which formula of the above two is correct?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi bisphenol,

    The method for calculating the damage for the leonov is still the same as calculating it for any other ship, however the damage calculated for lasers from the ship would be multiplied by two if the leonov was in the lower maps. Therefore the ore boost is taken into consideration with the leonov home maps bonus.

    Example: Leonov with 6 LF-4 Lasers (level 16) and various boosters

    Calculation for Ship (1 LF-4 Laser / x1 ammunition):

    Base damage: 200
    Laser update (level 16, +6%): 212
    Skill Tree - Alien Hunter (+12%): 237
    Seprom (+60%): 380
    Damage and Shared Damage booster (+20%): 456

    TOTAL Damage for Ship (6 LF-4 Laser / x1 ammunition): 2,736

    TOTAL Damage (lower maps) = 2,736 * 2
    TOTAL Damage (lower maps) = 5,472

    ===================

    With the speed calculation, they are essentially calculating the speed for the leonov as equipped however IF the leonov is in the lower maps, then they add an extra 20 to that value as a bonus.

    As far as i understand there have been no changes made to the leonov ship.

  7. The leo was never the same, exact speed as the Goliath. I should know, because I had a leo when working my way up when they first introduced the concept. Something about the leo "hitting a comet" or something.
    Anyway, I had full speed + prom, and I was always a little slower than a goliath. It never changed.

    Hello Ddraig,
    Thanks for the explanation, you even included boosters, bio and upgrades. :)

    But that raises another simple question: is the same damage calculation applicable for rockets?

    I know there are detailed laser damage charts for Goliath and Leonov but I'm unaware of rocket damage charts.

    Yes I know Leonov was never faster than Goliath but I thought its speed matches that of Piranha and Nostromo. Note that base speed of Piranha used to be lower, only 320, and was increased with the reintroduction of Nostromo.
    And Leonov was faster than Piranha on lowers before Piranha got the speed upgrade so I suspect that at the same time the speed of Leonov was nerfed down.
    BTW: I am still keeping one hangar with Leonov for fast drone levelling and sparing ammo on lowers.
