  1. Does anyone know why Dark Orbit lags so much? I'm running a top of the line gaming rig and I still only manage to obtain 25 frames per second if I'm lucky. Are there any solutions available and will this issue ever be addressed by the developers? This is not a new problem it's been around for at least 5 years now. This is very frustrating considering I'll run games 60+ fps that have far better graphics and detail than Dark Orbit.

If it's a problem you have had for at least 5 years ... it's going to be an issue with your browser or your hardware, 5 years ago the game had only just come out of the 'old client'. If there was a problem with the game that caused people with good system specs to run at low fps that had gone unfixed for 5 years I would imagine a lot more people would be talking about it.

hi hyperstorm i get lag big time but if u have top of the range pc/lap top .you bought junk:oops: cos my low end rig is i5 core 2.4ghz runs between 51-61 fps unless its crazy cubes or kami in gates OH AND ITS 4 YEARS OLD THIS xmas :)

  4. I love how when people talk about problems they have they catch crap about it. Lag is a solid problem that has been growing. People sit in chat and talk about two things constantly: who they are at war with, and the lag. I take it Dark Orbit's resident expert is having a crappy day as I normally don't see him on the attack like this, and I like his insider information. I see lag a lot, and no I won't pretend I have a high end rig. I see the most during heavy fighting, or crazy cubes, which I avoid if possible. Test was a nightmare during heavy pvp in the mist of npc. Not sure why people like to attack there, LOL. At any rate, I apologize for offending anyone.

Now on the other side of the coin, for the OP, unfortunately, people complain in forums a lot about the lag and it don't seem to get better. I totally reset my tablet one time, which helped but I am not going to do that daily. I have also reloaded browsers from time to time. It gets old. If you look through the forums, you will find there is a thread for doing pings to various server addresses that the mods have provided. Hopefully if you can send in your information for a ping, they can get somewhere closer to a solution. The standard clear this and that I have not found to help me but I will not rule it out as a helpful tool. Something I would like to see here in the forums is a heading just for lag. It is by far the biggest standard issue I have seen, that is not a bug or a fixable short term glitch. I don't play any other games of this sort online so I can't compare it to any. Maybe Star Wars but gave that up, as Dark Orbit takes all of my gaming time.

In final, I normally run around 15 fps, but it magically jumps to about 30-45 when it gets hot on screen. 3.5 years running like that, I shall live. Fly Safe and See You In the Orbit.

You are playing this game on your tablet?

I understand FPS drops can be annoying, fortunately I haven't had to deal with them for years, but if you are playing this game on a tablet I don't really think you have too much ground to complain. This game isn't being developed with running on tablets in mind. A tablets weak processor and lack of GPU will mean it is a really poor option for playing this game.

  6. Yep tablet, please find my complaint. I am passing along info to help the OP. Your cup of tea...

  7. I would not be upset about Dark Orbit lagging if it was not the only game that lags on my computer. Unfortunately, Dark Orbit is the "only" game that lags on my computer. I can run any other MMO such as Eve Online and Star Craft 2 with no problems and those games have far more detail than Dark Orbit. My question is why does Dark Orbit lag so much and are there any solutions?

Thank you all for assisting this player with their issue, as your help is always appreciated.

First of all, you mentioned other games you could play with no problem. Are those other games Downloads... such as Eve online or are they Web Browser based games?

Another question I would have, would be what type of internet connection do you use? (Cable /DSL / WiFi / Public Access or Phone- Wireless) ?

The variations in both of these things can make a difference in how you experience the Dark Orbit Gaming environment.

There are many things you can check -
    1. Web Browser is not up to date
    2. Flash and java not up to date - or missing plug ins
    3. Cache needs to be empty
    4. Browser history may need to be cleared.
    5. Distance from server
    6. Computer graphic overload. (Graphics card slow or not enough Ram).
    7. Programs Running in the Background
    8. Clear Flash player data: Can be done at the following link
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html
(This is an actual web page - not just an image)
    9. Try a different Browser to see if issue continues.

Please know that I am not saying that the issue is completely your machine or anything of that nature...
As the game has a lot of new graphics and events going on, that could also be another part of the issue.

I hope that something here helps you figure out how to have a better Dark Orbit experience.

    Have a great day
