[TI] Username taken

I made a new account and it said the username was taken but when I go to "forgot password" and copy and paste the same username that is supposedly taken it says the username doesnt exist... what is this

You are not supposed to give out your username, it's against the T's and C's

 

what do you mean, they can see my username in the chat box.. like what are you actually talking about

 

Send a ticket to Support with as much of the following information as you can and see what they say;

User Name
User ID #
Email address assigned to account
Server(s) played
Brief description of what is going on

If it is a NEW account then you may have to change some of the characters or add another to it. If it is an existing account that you are trying to get into it may have been banned for improper usage or deleted for inactivity, these names remain in the database so they can not be re-used in the future.

If i have misunderstood what is happening a little more information would be nice to get.

 

Sometimes cut and paste does not get the formatting right. Best to retype it.

 

Yeah, looks like the four-pointed stars got changed into a rectangle with Unicode number. Would be worth trying to type them as PSK~SUNDANCE suggested.

You are not supposed to make your login (username) known

 

Funny that they have that rule and yet they use that exact information to create your forum name and unless you have changed the name you chose when starting the game it is also the name in-game. This and the fact that during all of the issues in-game the mods were even asking to have Ship Name, Server, User ID (account #) so they could report and see what was happening. Yes security items like email address, passwords, personal names, are not to be given out, but the username is made public by D O whether we want it to be or not.

 

First off, If the user name is already taken, is it possible it is taken by you. I would recommend that you contact support and provide the needed information so that they can investigate the matter further.

If it is not something that belongs to you, then unfortunately there is nothing further we can do on this matter.

As for the Terms of condition:

This it a true statement and When this was created, players could change their login information. However this is no long the case for security reasons. Many players change their ship names multiple times so it is very rare that the log in matches the ship name. Thus the need to not share it with others.

As for the forums, many players logged directly in to the New forums when it became available. Most of those players had changed ship names many times and the name that came to the new forums was the User name that was currently on the ship. This in most cases is different from their log in.

When moderators request the Ship Name / User ID / Server it is to assist the players with their issues. They are not requesting log in information or passwords.
