tips from the majors

    don't know if ill be able to fit it all in here but ill try. i play many games for days on end as a result iv picked up a knack for finding simple fixes for big problems. here are a few ideas.

    :Limit pvp. i get its a pvp game but sending a lvl1 pilot against the normal 30k damage per shot enemy's on worlds as close as x-2 is ridiculous and infuriating. their are many ways to fix this.
    Home maps (ext 3-1 3-2 3-3) no hostile ships can engage pilots from another faction.
    Put a feature that turns all pvp off for your pilot at a cost of 50% resources and limits you to home maps. and many others those are just my two favs. new players who die thirty times before they get their first drone is almost as disheartening and infuriating as getting the game to realize you cant play it lol


    :Clan clans are a big thing in gamer community and i love the war and alliance features id like to see clan based events quests or activity's to give an in clan boost or cosmetic reward.
    In recognition of the battle station its a great idea little OP but theirs like two per faction and only the biggest loudest noobiest clans can get anywhere close. so a couple fixes are
    :more asteroids (not recommended without shrinking existing or remove the map icon)
    :personal base one base per clan with room for expansion say clan wars your goal is to kill their station and theirs is to destroy yours. ect.
    :alliance sharing. say PAPA has the station and wont give it up. but NOOB has an active alliance with them. maby have the PAPA stations passive effects like modulus effect NOOBs members to a lesser extent. (personal fav cuz it gives incentive to make peace and brings clan wars out of two people fighting and could end up with server wide chaos to protect their friend)

    :Auction you knew this was coming lol the auction is amazing and the server provided gear makes it better. but the amount of trolls bidding five times more cred then most pilots make in their career on a piece of equipment they don't need or want is insane. countless times iv logged in to check and found one guy bid 11 million on literally every item. theirs no easy fix for this any way i can fees-ably see is a "noob auction" base gear that no one rely needs or wants when their able to use it effectively sold to new users with a bet ceiling of like 500k just so people starting out aren't bashed into credits and ridicule from aggressive players.

    :chat ah yes chat. lots of aggressive players who only seem to have insults in their vocabulary. with no one using other groups. no way to fix the players but setting players under lvl15 or so to newbie chat and people without a clan to clan chat sections would rely help. maby adding a group search chat too.

    :clans more with clans lol so outside being a group of friends or a faceless drone in a server dominating monopoly theirs not much reason to join clans. maby add a lvl system to clans with varying rewards. maby a clans only world that can be edited by leaders. backgrounds from in game repair stations trade stations add just about every feature in the game purchasable gear for the clans privet world. even set up things like NPC spawners the bigger the enemy the more the real money cost. this would make clans much more popular and the customize options will attract more people. base line get em happy and talking get more people.

    :cosmetic great feature you can make your ships look like anything you want but i see more. i see custom decals. like each wing of your Goliath can be different colors or have different effects each one costing U. maby have a feature that if you pay enough you can put your custom decal over another mod. like the Goliath can turn into half a dosen ships with their own perks. pay enough and your custom paint job can be pasted on the new design. maby different colors for lasers in the extras menu. just small things like that that makes your ship stand out will bring in many new players and make existing ones much happier.

    :tutorials. finally we reach the end of this long trip. i could go on for days but don't want to change too much. anyway tutorials, theirs a couple first timer missions but nothing rely explaining the daunting amount of other features. i still have no idea what jackpot credits are for lol. maby set up an option when you first log in to take a video tour or interactive tut for the games many options.

    thus ends the list lol so what you think? leave your comments and ideas below and id love to see some of this implemented soon. not hard could be done in a monthly update and will bring DO into the open as a great game once again.
     
  2. Ugg, ran out of popcorn just reading this... In all, its not bad. Lets see, oh yes, your information shows you to have just started but you just ran through a lot of stuff that tells me you either did a lot of reading up on the game, or put in a lot of hours in play. Anyways, lets get this under way :

    Limit PVP - Can't see this one happening as DO has events in the x-2 maps, and clan base opportunities in x-3 and x-4. The "Turn PVP Off" idea is just something to be exploited before it fully gets out the gate. When you first start, you have a certain level, or maybe it is an amount of time, you have to reach before anyone can engage you, and after that, you are "Prime Pickings" for anyone to lock in on. :p

    Clans - I have no complaints with this one. I would say make a stipulation. If there were multiple asteroids in a map, a clan could only have one of them. Maybe you said that, not sure.

    Auction - Its possible that same bidding guy actually wants or needs that stuff. I am not sure what server you play on so its hard to call it. I personally hate the auction as it takes too long for a bid to go through a lot of times, and it takes a long time for the screen to reset after you click ok. However, it is possible to get what you need through it. As crazy as it is doing so, having two auctions just is not very productive. At this time each server has hourly, daily, and weekly auctions, and major headaches for players when it comes to getting the bid in "on time" and won items getting to the right places. Lets not complicate it any further.

    Chat - what is really needed is people that are paid to monitor chat at all hours. One mod on at a time and possibly watching 6 chats or more is just not working ever. There is too much happening for that. I don't think they would be able to stay on top of group and clan chats as that payroll would be huge but at least 1 or more per server for the global and company chats is needed to keep the noise down.

    Cosmetics is a distraction. At this time, you are able to tell what each ship can do based on its look. There are various designs for most of the most popular ships and the drones that give a player an idea what they are up against when they see it. Custom designs would be just too confusing.

    Tutorials - This one is huge. You are so right that there needs to be more when it comes to getting the players ready for coming into the game. There is very little to get the new player ready for the maps and after what, 2 or 3 missions, you are thrust into the x-2 map to face the great beyond, not even knowing that you should have started your skylab. I played almost 4 months before starting my skylab on my first server. And why would I not? Nobody ever told me anything about it, there was nothing in the game that told me to build it or to do any transfers from it. Putting ore on lasers, rockets, generators? What was that? another couple months... Finally I started reading forums, 6 months after starting play, just because I didn't have anything I wanted to do and found the great DO Bible. Really wanted to kick myself for not knowing about it from the beginning and even more wanted to go kick DO. I was like, there is a BIO upgrade? Players need proper guidance. A lot of players come in cold not knowing anything about the game or anybody that plays it and therefore will learn properly how?

    OH, BTW, jackpot credits are something that just collects for me never to be used...:rolleyes:
     
  3. I actually think whole lover maps could be PvE zone (4-x pvp ofc.), no shooting could happen there. New players would have a good time advancing in the game when they do not have to worry about enemies :) Then when their ships are in better condition they decide if they want to take the risk and move to upper maps, earning stuff will increase but the risks will be much higher too. Or maybe keep x-4 PvP so noobs can try to hunt other noobs :p There is no point in being able to kill lvl 5 players in x-2 :(

    ya ironically i was eating popcorn when typing it lol. i see the points your making and the only real rebuttal i can make is in the pvp. go into a lower ship you can get with credits disable all your drones and try to stay alive in x-3 maps. regularly some guy with the best ship and gear will camp the zone souly to kill the people who are just staring out and cant defend themselves. chats too flooded to get an sos out and no one rely cares to defend home maps anyway so the campers stay around for hours completely cutting off the map. and the starting missions are like twenty min of play and gives you nothing to help against the enemy players. 10k u is huge for starting players but when your ship and shield max health is half the average damage per second of your opponent enough is enough lol. maby make enemy kills on home maps offer huge bonuses to give players incentive to actually help prevent gate camping noobs.
    custom ships as in paint job. i understand where you coming from but the ships color scheme do sent rely matter considering the overall shape changes with the perks it has.
    i started this game years ago in Sweden to kill time. worked my way up to big boy by killing struners (cuz gate camping mmo and eic blocked every gate even 3-1 gate) forgot about it for a while and picked it back up right as pets came out and the spawn camping problem sky rocketed so i said * it and just picked it up a third time.
    thanks im a MLG Pro strategist and analyst so its my thing :p im also in collage for programming so im looking hard into games i play to get a feel for the ruthless perfectionist filled world of game development XD

    just had an idea for jackpot euros. when it hits 100 you can use it to spin a wheel of great stuff loke the galexy gate but with top line stuff. or you could pass and wait till 200 to double reward 300 triple 500 quad ect ect. have ship designs U C lasers drones boosters moduals premium time booty keys cpu loads of stuff.
     
  6. Clan events and updates have been suggested , Better safety for new pilots has been suggested. Turning pvp off means rank hoarders will only build Galaxy gates and hide from smaller ranks that can destroy them. Making a map for each clan would take waay to much space in the game.

    Auction has a nifty feature to prevent bigger players from holding bids from smaller pilots and that is by not allowing pilots to bid on things they really don't need such as iris drones when they have all 8 can not be bid on, same for ship designs. Everything else is open for bidding since you can have 10 hangars you may equip each ship with cpus and build them to FE or even ufe so you can build ships for any situation.

    And chat monitoring should be much stronger, can be and I hope will be.

    Cosmetics sounds like a cool idea, especially if we could make clan themed designs for our ships ;)
