Tractor beam

I have an idea to counter ships which just stay on port, demilitarised zones or in the middle of a bases. Imagine a new laser ammo (similar to SAB but a different colour maybe yellow) that acts as a tractor beam pulling a targeted ship towards your ship. If you fly in the opposite direction at the same time as you have a ship locked with your tractor beam then essentially you can "pull" a ship away with you (i.e. away from port). This beam would be active for 5 seconds and has a very long cool down time (i.e. 30 minutes or longer). The beam will stop the targeted ships engines and rockets (i.e. both normal rockets and rocket launcher). The beam would also stop the targeted ship from performing any jump, cloak, mine usage, or emp burst over that 5 seconds. However, the targeted ship can still shoot its lasers. What do you guys think?

 

No. This is just grounds for UFE's to pull weaker ships off port, then blast them away @100k a shot. Sorry 0/10 from me. The DMZ's at port are there to prevent port jump abuse from other companies. This is why we have PvP maps: to have no safety from ports.

They will have to Use a TRACTOR to push New People to Stay n PAY/Play..

Maybe it would be better as a Tech Center item. No one uses the Chain Impulse so...why not add a Tractor Beam to the Tech Center.

 

Terrible idea, try finding somebody who wants to fight you or log off. Just because you're online doesn't mean I should have to fight you on your terms, nor should anybody else be forced to.

There is a real scenario that will be happening. I guess no one wants this in game.

 

The scenario would be a UFE locks you with a tractor beam but...since the Tractor Beam takes all of the ships power the UFE can't fire lasers, rockets, emp, cloak, mines or anything for that 5 seconds (i.e. it can only drag you a short distance). In that time when you are being dragged you are shooting x4 and rockets into the beast and getting a head start taking him down. This would definitely increase the action in the game and keep chat queens at home base (i.e. make it so the Tractor Beam does not work on X-1, X-8 and Pirate base).

 

Just NO. I do hope that you understand what will this bring? We won't even be able to sit safe on the port. Where will we be able to sit safe than? Just base?

Yes...the UFE using the Tractor Beam would also not be able to use any other Tech, Ship Abilities, Insta-shields, EMPs or anything...basically making him vulnerable to attack. This should balance it out. The Tractor Beam could also be used by noobs to pull a UFE off someone so they can EMP and escape.

 

What can a FE or non-FE player do to UFE at all?

 

Tractor beam = UFE noob basher beam, what a bloody stupid idea, the reason players sit at port/bases is because they simply dont want to fight at the moment so who the hell are you to force them.

Well...not only UFEs can use it....think about it. The game is stagnant and needs some way to get more action into it. If you want to park and chat...then park and chat on x-1, x-8 or pirate base. The Tractor Beam would be just another tool in the arsenal to make the game less dull.

 

What you are proposing is, if I have to go get a water, I should fly off 10 maps to be safe?

Please, stop with this ideas.
