[UI] Google Authenticator / 2 Step Auth System (Adds extra security to accounts)

So I spoke with CA_Nightmare about this and he recommended I posted it on the forums,

I use Google Authenticator for almost everything as it adds an extra layer of security to any email / forum / game account I have

What we would do is scan a QR code with our tablet / mobile device. You are prompted to enter a 1st time code to sync the accounts after that the app generates a unique code which expires every 30 seconds (or less I don't know the facts), you would need this code to send a PW reset / log in to your game account.

No hell no. People just need to stop sharing accounts and emails.

 

Thats irrelevant, this just increases account security full stop

 

Interesting idea but what if the player does not use a tablet or mobile. Sure i know desktops can also use the thing but you left that out. Also to this fact if ppl would just be honest players and quit sharing accounts this would not even be a thought. 99% of lost accounts come from sharing. I second what bio said!

 

I know theres other games that has a 2 step security system i think this is a great idea for Darkorbit seeing how some people spends so much time and money on the game. That being said its a simple act of linking your account to an authenicator. as for other games i no they have it set up as a chose of a user so not everbody is forced to use the security system.

 

Yeah of course, its optional, im not saying this is to be forced upon players, its just an option like most emails have now days to add that extra layer of protection
