  1. Hey guys I heard a while back the devs were working on a downloadable client. It would be amazing if they supported modding or at least not ban people who attempted to mod the game. Just think of the possibilities! Modding always offers replay value and attracts many new players and old players back to the game, I wasn't a fan of GTA until I saw some great mods on YouTube years ago. Just to give you some modding ideas:

    Goliath-X with old lasers
    texture edits
    model edits
Goliath enforcer with red rings on lasers
Old G-Venom (mp1's on the sides)
Old vants assets (iris & flax)
Old laser assets (both regular and "fat" lasers)
Remove the lf-3 from the diminisher's tip (3d client)
    Old resolution ships (2d client)
Old alien npc assets (2d and maybe modeled in 3d)
Shield mechanics and shield engineering abilities effects from 2d client in 3d client
    etc

As you can see there's many ideas that can be brought to life if modding DarkOrbit was ok'd, supported, etc. Would be way easier to mod the game in the downloadable client. Of course any game breaking mods like 300 dmg lf-4, etc should not be allowed as it's obviously cheating. This is why I think the modding scene should be controlled by moderators from DO who would approve or reject certain mods, think of it as the steam workshop where mods are approved and installed via steam and not player to avoid installation of mods not exclusively approved by DO.

Something similar I've actually wanted in here, but I think there should be an approval or something. So basically the thing could be user submitted, but developer / community approved. So in this case, devs just take your thingy and adds it securely to the game so it could be just a one click setup from place X and no file dragging / modification to anywhere, which also might decrease the amount of cheaters as well.

I've seen at the beginning of DarkOrbit Discord some people trying to do their custom spaceships and designs on the #fan_creations channel, which some of them actually were pretty neat and I thought here could be nice to have that kind of thing with voting system ofc. New designs and stuff are always welcomed, especially when Lava and Legend looks like just simple paint bucket tool "have a yellow there" or "have a white there" and they just roll same designs to every ship. The only cool simplistic designs they've made in my opinion is Arctic and Inferno.

  3. Exactly. Would be a win/win for everyone as it keeps quality control on mods as well.
