  1. This is the internet, in the year 2015. That's two THOUSAND fifteen.
Language is the LEAST of your worries in this jungle where FAR greater terrors are only a click away, or maybe even on your phone.
It is time to stop banning people for typing "bad words".
Other games and sites don't do it. Why is Bigpoint so puritanical about it?
Once, in a political discussion in chat, I was banned for typing Dick Cheney. I'm sorry, but that's his name. He doesn't go by Richard.
Another time I was banned for using the word "****", as in, "You don't have to be **** about it", a la Seinfeld...soup ****.
And ferchrissake, I've been banned on Mexico 1 for using the word "estupido". CMON !!

I understand you want to police GLOBAL chat, and that's fine. But why ban GROUP chat? I can in-game email all the f-bombs I want but for some unknown reason GROUP chat is sacred. Restrict the bans to GLOBAL chat.
That's too radical and dangerous an idea? Ok...how bout you just do your little "star thing" where you replace the naughty words with asterisks? Use the stars ALL THE TIME instead of selectively and not ban at all. Because honestly, I don't know whats a bad word to you or not, nor do I care.
Trust me on this one. You can lift the profanity ban and it won't negatively impact your sales.
Your reputation and integrity will remain intact. The world won't end and you will still get into heaven for being decent people.
    This is the internet, 2015.

  2. For those of you wondering what terrible, terrible word that is that got starred, it's izan backwards.
Obviously they were horrible people, but that word is used all the time in a non-hateful context. How could you teach history without it?

  3. Its a bad word in Germany, and brings ill feelings in the US as well. I am sure most of Europe would not like it. That said, I am sure you could find another word to type in chat. Most people that use a bannable word, are upset. I remember one player started 15 accounts just so he could keep his vent up. I guess he calmed down as I never see him get out there in chat anymore.

That said, though I feel your pain, there are words that one person can say and be ok with but if that said person hears somebody else say it, they are ready to fight. I tested that statement in high school on a good friend, as the best of friends fight sometimes.

Bigpoint has to have a system set up for "offensive" words. Unfortunately when it is implemented, the banned person only looks for another vent outlet. Those words really get old, to hear and to read. I have sent friends out of my home for language, and refused service to customers at my job for the same reason. There has to be something else to talk about.

Waiting for the close entry now. o_O

  4. I concede your point on the german n-word even though it's been used on network television and nobody gets bent about it.
Again, I propose 2 options: Ban it in Global, or just use the stars. No need in spanking people like they are 5yr olds.
Usually the offensive words are gonna come in the "heat of the moment". After being killed, or when telling a joke. It's human emotion, call it venting and say it's uncool, but it's that same emotion that makes people wanna play this game. For crying out loud, we got people out here being REWARDED for KILLING each other. But bad words are just too much to bear, even between friends. So maybe I get hyped up and lose it because of the same emotions making me competitive, and then I can't communicate with my clan AT ALL for x hours because they won't just star everything. It seems like they revel in the discipline.
I really didn't expect anything to change, just wanted to air a point.
I am getting Teamspeak for my clan anyway, so by all means, keep up the good work and close the thread.
