Would it really hurt anything or put a damper on the game, give unfair advantage, etc. if we were able to move through the Pirate maps like all the others. Entrance portals into a map are also exit portals back to where you came from. Go backwards from 5-3 to 5-1. Why not?

  2. I think they designed the pirate maps this way to add some challenge to the game.

Yeah, like the rock mazes, mine fields, saboteurs and lack of demilitarized zones isn't enough.

  4. Yes I know what you mean. They are difficult maps to say the least. Practice makes perfect though I think. Once you get to know where the ports (DMZ) are it gets somewhat easier.

What I do is I have a ship parked in 5-2 and 5-3. When I want to go there I logon the ship and "Warp" my main ship there. Also have a ship parked in lowers maps and uppers maps. When I want to leave the pirate maps I logon one of those ships and "Warp" there or just fly out.

  5. The intention was to make you work for the EE from Palladium and was soon circumvented by the ability to "PARK" ships wherever you want them, I am guilty of this too so I am not bashing those who do. I have my Citadel sitting on 5-2 Base to allow maximum credits for my SkyLab Transfers (50 extra for Prometium at the base), but fly a Goliath Surgeon usually. But the Pirate Maps were designed to make you work to get to the Palladium and work even harder to trade it in. Be thankful they took away the damage from the "Mist" of the field as you could not stay in there very long or risk being killed by a passing NPC.

The only "damage" you were getting was literally a Moth formation without using it. People used suicide's a lot in there due to that and NPC's weren't really a problem as people used to be on the 5-3 more often back then. More people means less NPC and other good tactic they used also was using Diamond most of the time, as Interceptor shooting there regained yourself the shields. I remember those times clearly enough and kinda miss it to be honest. :(

Also, the design of the pirate maps is fitting very well on the looks of the Reapers itself as well as their ships. Looks like most of them was collected out of the scrap they've found most of the places.
