[UI] Palladium No Attack Zone

    Is it just me or did bigpoint do their best to design pirate maps to be dreadfully awful?
    - (before) Palladium area drains shield
    - Pirates everywhere and do lots of damage
    - Pirates have all of your tactics covered and countered:
    - - Got lots of shield and no speed/damage? Annihilator's got you covered
    - - Lots of speed? Saboteur.
    - - No health? Barracuda
    - - Trying to regenerate? Interceptor
    - Zones which you cannot pass through
    - Maps are shared for all companies
    - Can't run back to previous map
    - Mines everywhere
    - Palladium area reveals camo
    - Have to use PVP maps to go to and get back from pirate maps

    I think this idea might do something to fix these problems: have a no attack zone on palladium, where all pirates stay out of it like in portals and bases and enemies can't attack you. This will allow weak people to collect without being killed by some 50 iris guy with 1000000000000 LF-4s that does 999999999 dmg/s, who is 40 years old and still lives in his mother's basement.

    Good/bad? Opinions/suggestions? Do you support it?

    Hope this gets implemented :)

  2. I support the removal of Pally fields all together. Why should BOTTERS be allowed to AFK Pally all day long and build gates all night long? The worse mistake D O made was to remove the shield absorption of the Pally field. You are asking for a FREE BOTTER Zone and I do not support the idea. I myself think 5-3 needs triple the number of NPC's in it and they all need to center on the Pally fields.

    If you want to farm Palladium you got to take the risks and bite the bullet when you go pop, to make it easy to collect Palladium so you can then spam GG's would make the rank system a joke plus all the lost revenue as no one would buy EE anymore could push the price of other items up. I know that there are some players that spend all there time collecting Palladium and doing gates but there is a lot more to the game than that and it's much more fun mixing your time with map work, missions and going round the maps trying to pick up a kill here and there, DO is not all palli and gates.

    no attack zone is just botter heaven we already have enough of those tanked up, to add in a no attack zone youd just have a ton of stacked bots with nothing to get rid of them.

    what would really fix that map is more npcs. yes it ruins noobs but you have to get to it through 4-5 for a reason. they werent designed to be easy to survive, matter of fact it was supposed to be hard enough for the companies had to work together, but because people will be people, they decide to kill each other instead.

    just have balanced configs, dont go afk, and you'll be fine. i was in there 3 months straight before and never went afk or botted. actually i went looking for npcs out of boredom lol.. this game is a grind no matter what you do

    You scream BOTTER - but thats a different problem - Bigpoint has to fix the botting problem before approaching this suggestion. You have to take the suggestion as bots werent there, because, its obvious this wouldn t get implemented with bots still around
     
  6. They will never get rid of the bots, they have been here for over 6 years, that I know of, and are still running rampant today. They took x-1 away from them so the NEW players had somewhere to be able to grow in peace, they took the NPC's of x-2 (except the bosses) out of the ranking system because of the botters preventing the New players from being able to kill easy targets, but 5-3 is already full of PET's collecting for their AFK counterparts, which is a form of botting (since I can't seem to maintain a connection for more than 5 minutes if I am not moving my ship).

    The Pirate maps were instilled as a Battle Map system and it quickly became a neutral zone where we all worked together to kill the Pirates for missions or Pally for E E. With a few bad apples that decide to come through every so often to stir things up (and get some easy kills), now you want a protected zone to collect what you want without being disturbed, sorry I do not agree with it and never will. Return the Shield absorption to the mist, increase the Pirates in the map, make players work for the Pally. The Pally is already guaranteed E E spins and can generate them faster than picking Bonus Boxes (I did say CAN) so to allow it to happen with NO obstructions is just plum crazy.

  7. No comment cause DO doesn't need players who think the way m89 does, he gets mad over something and immediately starts talking and judges players he doesn't know just cause they kill him. Cry Cry Cry me a river.

    The pirate maps were NOT made as a battle map system. when they launched they were specifically pointed as being so difficult that companies needed to work together, instead people shot each other. been that way since day 1

    if it were a pvp map it would have 1.5x pvp rewards like pvp maps do. not to mention pvp maps dont have npcs, especially sabs and annihilators, which easily change the winning sides of a fight
     
  9. remeber when you shot someone and pally dropped from their cargo. yeah those days.
    Now this pvp no attack zone? terrible idea, The intention is good, And i respect that. There are People who still use botting software to build free gates, and people abuse the pally feild by literly sitting and have the pet collect their pally. i say make more npcs spawn where it is more difficult to pally.

  11. Why don't they bring in a new NPC into the pirate maps that can attack cloaked ships or even attack pets. That will give the cloaked botters something to think about. After all, the pirate maps are not meant to be a safe quiet place. And call these NPC's Hunters. In turn they could bring out some new quests.

    Back to the topic, i dont agree with ur idea, as someone said it will be a heaven for bots, and also will be more boring that it already is.
    I would suggest a palladium map (like the regular one) for every company but anyone can invade it and hunt in there, would be good because more players will come to collect palla, weak players can be covered by full users of their own company or at least try it xD, would be more players to kill for enemies, and would be more players to defend the map.

    Should i post this idea? :v

    This is not good idea...This would be very easy for every players. Imagine, all players from your server would be on palladium all day long. What would you do, if you wanted to go to hunting? Every maps would be empty, beacuse all players are on plladium or in Gates...I think that DarkOrbit need to get out from palladium, not in palladium

    Using botters as a weaponized response against any idea is the apex sign of weakness, I'm certain it's even frowned upon by D.O. since in truth it is in fact a D.O. problem and NO one else has ANY business keeping this reason in their mouths.

    I like the no pvp zone idea for pally fields, the npc's are enough challenge for FE players.
    There are enough maps for the pvp crowd to troll without entering the enemy lower maps or pally fields.
     
  16. The issue I have with the idea is OP wants the entire zone to be a NO attack zone, NO PvP, NO Pirates, just sit there and collect Palladium. This is where the words you do not want to hear from the players come from. X-1 maps were taken away because they were taking all the NEW player reward boxes, x-2 NPC's were removed from Company Rank point calculations because of the same reason, NOW we want to make Pally Fields Attack FREE Zone lets just give E E away for doing nothing.

  18. The Palladium Map/Zone is a "High Risk - High Profit" deal. You risk getting destroyed by other players or NPCs in return for Galaxy Gate Spins. That's a good trade-off. If it became a "no death zone," you'd be surprised (or not) just how fast people can get gates. At the increased rate of getting gates, there would be more and more people hitting UFE status and getting Uridium a little "too fast." BP doesn't quite want that, as they can lose profits from the players that spend time boxing, or buying Uridium. Remember, Bigpoint is a company that seeks to profit.

    The "High Risk - High Profit" deal is the fair way. As for people who PvP, see if you can find "holes," times where players don't PvP. When PvPers do arrive, just either log off and take a break, or go boxing. If you work on building your boxing bio, you can get a fair amount of spins.

    As the deal with bots, I rarely see them in the pally field. They're all busy boxing in the battle maps, or if I do see one in pally, they're not there the next day. Not too big of a deal, they still run the risk of getting popped, same risk for everyone in there.

    Another thing, if the Pally Field becomes a DMZ zone, it will increase the number of players collecting for resources dramatically. Problem with that? There would be a much higher competition for resources. As soon as lots of people are unable to click on the palladium or get the message "Resources are already being collected," people will come once again to the forums and complain to reduce the amount of time it takes for the resources to spawn.


    High Rewards should always be a High Risk. There are no freebies. If you want, go pally in the 5-1 map. Much less pally, but you should not have any problems with PvP. It's what I did when PvPers arrive.

    I still stand by the idea that you should have to farm certain NPC for certain rare materials. I have never liked the idea that you have to reach a certain point of the map to wait around to pick something up, and NPC are just useless obstacles that you waste ammo on. Give NPC more of a purpose other than an obstacle, allow pally to be something they carry along with regular cargo, have rare NPC spawn and have more pally. Those rarer npc would be worth spending time in the map and fighting over.

    Implement a group drop, so if a group of people kill an NPC together everyone can benefit from the dropped cargo. Most of the mechanics that is DO just doesn't make sense on a larger scale MMO game. They're like walking the fine line of a browser game and a full fledged download. Too many things just seem to clash, and a bunch of newer implementations seem useless right away or not maximized to its full potential.

    The game is by no means multi-faceted, and it needs to be. It's too black and white.
