The current method of logging in was put in place to allow both choices in the 4 main server areas as well as a default start-up for the last server active for a player.

It seemed to work okay, however, when there is a maintenance period or even a merge time, if a player had been in one server and some time after log out the maintenance time started, the player gets locked out entirely from all servers they may have accounts on, until the whole maintenance period is finished.

I suggest to go back to the log in getting a player to the server selection screen only.
At that point, the servers that do have a maintenance time in place could be clearly identified with the word MAINTENANCE ( in RED and with YELLOW highlight ); or if needed, identify with ACTIVE MERGE as the text.

This way, there should be no hang ups on the log in.
Selection of a server in maintenance could maybe have a brief pop up saying 'No Access at this time', then the server menu selection screen is shown again.

This would probably also save on a lot of trouble tickets being opened or new forum entries with complaints about no access.

  2. Yes, this looks like a very good suggestion.
Log in and go straight to the server selection screen; no auto-load last server.

With the announcement of the BigPoint Portal closure and using the darkorbit url as direct log in; it would be a great time to have the server menu selection re-vamped to use the above suggestion.
