[UI] Solace +5% damage instead of shields

    Idea for the Solace Goliath design. There's 2 pure offense designs, and 3 pure defense (meaning both skill and passive bonus are similar).

    I'd really like one that was a little of both, and Solace seems perfect for embracing that niche. +5% damage for a little edge, plus the healing for defense. i'd like to see it actually have a little more than normal, like 6% or even 7% to make up for it being less useful than other designs. but yeah, the idea is basically to lean it towards offense in that regard, not 10% shields again.

    2 pure offense, 2 pure defense, and Solace with a little of both. I think it'd work well, and maybe some people would start playing with it.

    Not sure about the increase in damage percentage but I personally would be grateful with least 5% damage bonus :)

    how about +5% damage in addition to +5% shields?

    that would be different, and also a little better then the average passives except surgeon. it still wouldn't be the best choice for offense, or defense, but it would grind like an enforcer, with slightly better shields for harder fights.

    i don't own a solace. i've only read that the healing doesn't help much. but mainly i like having a rounded out option. since solace isn't very appreciated, the common damage bonus might help, and be conceptually paladine.

    I agree with you there, if not increase of just damage then a 50/50 is more than just fine by me.
    5% increase in damage as well as 5% to shielding sounds alright.
     
  6. Healing: That healing ability is VERY useful against fights with people who have an Aegis. It also lets you stick in your power config longer right before switching configs.

    "Isn't very appreciated": That is such BS. True, there are only a few people who would be SEEN with a Solace, but there are surprisingly, a lot of people who would run it. It's an excellent design to have for newcomers and gate doers (assuming you're doing one for the first one, and didn't pack enough shields :D)

    i dunno, maybe i'm not understanding the whole shields thing, but maybe that's just because i only have 300k. a few hits from a cluster in a gate and my ass is grass with or without 10%. more damage though isn't gone in the first hit, and helps out on the grinding.

    i really like the idea of the solace, it'd hit hard just being a goliath. not surprised to hear the ability is better than people have said, i always thought it sounded pretty good, especially in a pinch. i'd still want it with 5% damage though, just the way i'm playing.

    so i'm shooting for a diminisher, but yeah, would love a solace someday.
     
  9. No. Solace is a defensive ship purely and I love it for that. Now, if there were shield and damage variants of all of them that would be nice, but changing it to just damage, no.


    What could be done instead - create a new design named "Demolisher"

    What it does mirrors a damage side of spectrum

    5% passive damage boost

    Ability - "Structural weak spot locator"

    Increases damage dealt to target by 30% (total, shield and health), but decreases max health by 30%, by 1% per second, until the end of the ability which lasts 30 seconds. Thoughts?

    Sounds like a good, tactical alternative to the diminisher. i'm really wanting a ship with the +5% for grinding, but some kind of defensive skill. everything defensive has the shield bonus, and everything offensive has the damage. something needs to mix it up just a little.

    maybe that would be the pusat, speed being defensive. not quite what i had in mind though.

    I feel like the 10% schild an 5% damage bonus can really counter each other and are fair, especially with the new ring formations you can add some crazy shields with the 10% shieldbonus provided by your design, while you will only be getting a little extra damage with the drill formation.

    Furthermore: the cooldowns are all verry long (even with double cooldown) and in the end I don't think it will matter to much wether you have 10% extra shields or 5% extra damage.
     
  12. Nah, Solace is much better with the shield bonus... That's just my personal opinion though.
     
  13. Sure give it a dmg boost, then can make more use of suicide config and just farm maps on 15 min intervals :cool:.

    Cooldown is fine though. I'm wanting the passive damage for general grinding, but a defensive skill for emergencies (too many aliens, sneak attacked, etc). That kind of option seems to be lacking. As it is i'm going with enforcer over spectrum. Feels bad.

    I understand your point, but I feel like it makes only a minor diffrence, If I choose a skill design, i don't care what the passive bonus is, I just choose it for the skill it has. I also feel like this is such a minor change that it wouldn't really add anything and that bigpoint can't make much of a profit with it neither. Last but not least, old designs are most likely not going to change, as stated by darkorbit staf on Dutch forum.

    makes sense, i've seen the upset the changes to drone formations caused. maybe they'll come up with a new design that could work like this. the 5% damage means a lot to me, anything that can shave some time spent. and then maybe some kind of short range teleport or decoy skill, something to help with an occasional butt saving. solace just seemed like a good candidate to me. i always go for the damage doer with a minor heal. but anyway, cheers.
