[UI] Splash Damage

  1. Mostly all of us have played games involving splash damage.

    Destiny -> Rocket Launcher killing 3 players grouped together
    GTA -> Causing a vehicle to explode and blowing up the car next to it

    Even some space console games involve splash damage

    Project Sylpheed (X360) - The Acropolis is partially capsized when a nearby ship is destroyed and the Acropolis is captured in the blast wave.

    So I propose we introduce splash damage sometime with the new 3D.

    Our fights are going to look better as our ships now turn instead of switch direction, so when in large pvp battles, killing an enemy ship should cause a small amount of damage to ships nearby. P.E.T. Kamikaze has imposed splash damage, but not a promising result unless the enemy is sitting still.

    If you have enemies shooting you and following and you kill one, then the others should take a slight amount of damage (Say 13,000-25,000)

    Your ship (Spectrum in this case) would destroy the Goliath which, when it explodes, will deal damage to nearby Goliath ships (Goliath color coded to represent rings, sorry, couldn't find explosions on render's thread)

    This both benefits you when fighting and disbenefits you when fighting in groups. However, the damage is small and only enough to be noticed. We could use splash damage as set amount or have it deal 30% damage of overall shields and hp together
     
  2. And what about aliens? And spaceball? And ctb? Or bases? Or cubes? It could add up real quick. Ever had a clan assault the players on the base by grabbing 10 people and having them Kami the base and the players on it over and over? It adds up fast and hurts a lot.

    No to splash damage against pvp, or only with a specified design but then this would look like the ''chain'' tech.

    I would like something like this but only as an ability design for goliath, which allows it to do 100K shielddamage to like 7 targets at a time.
     
  6. 30% is way too much. Pop a group of 3 players and any guys around them will be one shots. I just don't think it's necessary.. maybe better explosion animations, but actual damage dealt by deaths will not end well
